Not going to have life insurance once I retire early. Will not need it. Kid is grownup and out on her own. Wife will be more than fine off all the cash we keep and money in IRAs that go directly to her as beneficiary. We have joint accounts on all other investments so no stopping access to that money if either one of us goes before the other. Everything paid for. SS will be icing on the cake whether it's 1 or 2 checks coming in and not really needed. So in our case, I cannot justify giving 10 or 20 thousand over 10 to 20 years to an insurance company for a 40K policy! That's not critical thinking. I could take that same money and more than double it in the markets and leave that as well as everything else and vice versa for my wife if she goes before me.

What about covering the cost of long care with his plan to use our IRA’s to fund a life Insurance policy?
