Finally someone else is making something like this and at a significantly better price. The hellgate looks pretty awesome, but that's still pretty pricey for what it is. Yes its going to save you some major $ if it can help you find a lost quad, but if you have multiples and you want to add one to each build its going to get real expensive quick. This is much more reasonable.

I have 2 of the more expensive buzzers and they work great. Just this weekend I got a ~ $400 quad with a GoPro attached stuck high in a tree. Of course the battery came unplugged but luckily the buzzer was going and I was able to find where it was and retrieve it. I see many comments about how they are too expensive and they wouldn't buy one but the $30 I spent on one just saved me about $500-600 dollars. I didn't put them on my small quads or my racers, just my big freestyle quads that are more likely to get stuck at a distance. I'm so glad I bit the bullet and made the purchase. Also, having to press a button to turn it off makes placement harder. With the more expensive ones (Hellgate) you can bury it in the build and it turns off by plugging in for a couple of seconds so you can place it anywhere because no button to press.

Hello Andy, i'm currently bulding a long range quad and i've bought hellgate buzzer at high cost. I.ll buy the one you review for my next build for sure, Thank you. For crossfire you should not mount the antenna like this, when the quad pass from right to left(or left to right :)) from you, there's a deadspot and you will get weak signal even with strong vtx power. + both end of antenna is near carbon arm wich is conductive and near motor noise. A good way to mount it is verticaly. I know you will say "i'll break antenna every landing cause the bottom part." This is why i prefer the soft version of antenna. Krazy FPV and Joshua Bardwell explain how to mount it. You have a lot more experience than me but i'm currently installing crossfire on my long range build and this is what i learn from other pilot. Thank you for your work i follow you daily and you help me a lot in my choice in this hobby. Cheers.

Very handy little item. As you said, the setup can be a bit fiddly, but, I guess you only have to deal with that once. This would really be helpful when flying the smaller racers .. 2 " to 3" class .. if you're flying over grass. I know I've spent a lot of time walking around trying to find a quad lost in the grass. Thanks for the review. Cheers.

I think there is some good uses for this little gem. I know I myself would most likely have another $300.00 worth of drone/camera if one of my quads had had this baby on it before it hit the bushes. Think I'll have to pick up a couple. Thanks Andy, nice work. Jeff

Holy cow, I could have used this yesterday....lol I spent an hour trying to find my quad after my battery was ejected. I heard of another option, but it was around $25 and way too expensive for a buzzer. So, this is a good option. 👍

thank you Andy for finding this. I recently lost a new 230 in 4' deep grass with an ejected battery. I think I had a gyro issue, as it was determined to continue in one direction. so I lowered and hit my kill switch not realizing how deep the grass was, looked for hours and nothing. :( so I built a 210 5 inch, now if I could only find a good place to buy batteries in Canada, got hit with tariffs last time I ordered from HK

Looks like and is set up very similarly to the hellgate LDA. Since I lost a quad I've looked at a few of these and, although harder to mount, I still prefer the Drone keeper as if will fit in/on both planes and quads and is thus more universally useful. Even my bigger toys will carry it. _Not had to use it on the rc truck yet but now I'm fpv-ing that I might have to make another mount_ :D

My idea is to focus on recovering the BATTERY of the quad. If you can find the battery, you'll probably find the quad. The battery will give days of power if not weeks without some microscopic battery. So I've been messing around with mounting my old r-xsr's and binding a locater model that can find my battery. You only need battery power to the rxsr to bind to it - no FC logic needed. At that point, it's just adding a buzzer by whatever means. Technically, it should be possible to do a transmitter + buzzer combination that you could use your transmitter to locate. Make sense?

I lost one in an orchard a few days back... and I swear the sprinklers were following me, man! Was weird!! Anywaaaay... luckily my Buddy found my quad for me, or I might still be looking. I was so far from where it actually went down that it’s a joke. He’s all, “what color was the one you lost?” I said, “red and black.” Then he answers, “ is that it on the back of my truck?” I looked and there it was!!! I had been looking for about 45 min. And he found it in five. Ha ha ha I say... friends are better than beepers, but imona still get one! 😂

Great video man! I really like the idea of a button to turn the thing off, I wish the HellGate had this! People say it is great that it does not have a button, I guess they never crash in water lol. I don't know about you, but I don't want to have to plug my quad back in when it's wet, just to turn off that annoying buzzer! Did you have it soldered to 5v, ground, and buzzer on the KISS FC?

I’m not sure I 100% buy this “some fcs but not others” thing. One wire to 5v, one wire to ground, and one wite to bz (0V sink)... what about that is fc specific. I think it simply works sporadically. If that *is* something you can make fc specific, you need to really work at it.

Seriously the button and menus is worse than a Unify. And the buzzing duration is incomparable as well. The biggest magic of hellgate buzzer is it's seamless button less operation. Noone has managed to copy that yet.

I guess I don't know enough about how this product works but it seems like once the battery is thrown, it's basically hooked up to a dead FC. How does it know the difference? Also, I assume it still works as a lost model alarm triggered from radio. You didn't show that.

Nice review! Its amazing how these things are getting cheaper and cheaper as there are more options in the market. I wonder how cheap they can go considering they need at least a Lipo and some sort of IC to work! I am currently building the DIY option that Oscar Liang posted in his blog (oscarliang.com/diy-lost-model-alarm/) which, although is way simpler (doesn't have as many options), depending on what parts you already have, it could be cheaper and you end with the satisfaction of building it yourself.
