Over the year's I've bought lot's of tools from Aldi especially motor trade tool's , I'm a mechanic by trade the, the spanner set's metric and imperial are very good I got a 1/2 & 1/4 socket set I had that for about 10 year's but as you know getting part's for aldi tool's especially 10 year's later the ratchets have now done there job (NEVER) let me down but you must maintain the working parts at least once a year fresh grease inside the Ratchet, one of the paws lost a tooth Which would have been dangerous if it slipped under heavy force (bye bye knuckles),most of the tool's are made in Germany, the 1/2 ratchet i use is made in Taiwan BRITOOL Expert which was made in England at one time . Great show sorry i waffled on all i wanted to say its good stuff at a reasonable price 😀👍🏻🇬🇧

I snagged myself a mid-range Ferrex brushless combi drill with case, 2x5AH batteries, and a charger for under £70.00 at Aldi last week. Purchased individually. It all fits into the case supplied with the bare unit drill. I have given it some proper work over the last week outdoors and performed very well. 70+ pilot holes into solid seasoned Oak only just dropped the battery indicator one bar. Batteries are permanently available so not too worried about that. For a kit, just slightly more expensive than one of my Dewalt 5AH batteries alone, It's brilliant. The time saved by having the pilot bit in the Ferrex drill, and the 12mm bit in my Dewalt for drilling through the steelwork, and not have to constantly swap bits, made it worth the 70 quid alone. It would never be my mainstay drill. but as a secondary, lightweight drill, that I found myself not even worrying about, it's pretty good, and I'm a proper tool snob lol.

I have all DeWalt cordless power tools for home use …. But I purchased the Ferrex Impact Driver and the Drill bodies as separate items as well as 2 x 5AH batteries and a charger all for just over £100.00 …. These are for use at my caravan as there’s always something that needs doing and saves me having to remember to take and bring home these tools 🧰….. handy to have for the price.

Oh come on Dan, I build models too. Tools are our jewellery. We generally don't care if we only use it once, as long as we have one. Repeat after me: Hi I'm, (place name here), I'm a tool junkie, and I vow never to openly admit to my wife how many tools I have, or reveal how much I have spent. To do so would void my lifetime membership. So help me Jebus. Cheers. 👋🇨🇦

Nice video Dan as always. But i will say middle isle stuff isn't always a bargain. The file set for instance can be had at half the price at toolstarion and screwfix, with more reassurance of quality. My favourite tool for using tiny drills BTW is an archimedes drill. Perfect for drilling sleepers.

Hi Dan. Another great vlog. Just a note of caution. I bought the tool organiser, it's brilliant can't fault it. EXCEPT for the screws you fasten to the wall with, use your own screws. The Philips heads just round off, then you have to get them out with a drill or mole grips. However I was screwing them into wood, if you're using the rawl plugs they might go in easier. That said well worth the money. Thanks again Dan, great information. DELPH JUNCTION

I like the £8 saw and pin chuck/handheld drill sets, but I've got plenty of similar screwdriver sets and the file set seems superfluous to me. You don't need the handle and I 've got plenty of needle file sets anyway. I like the long reach pliers & cutters. I'm not a model maker though, I'm and electronics engineer.

I've had a set of the Lidl pliers/cutters for few years now and can confirm that they are well made and durable - worth the money. I would be cautious about electrical goods from either Lidl or Aldi because the aftersales is non-existent after the 3 year warranty. I have two Aldi codeless drills, 12v and 20v and both have died too soon after the warranty ran out and although they seem to be an easy fix the franchise repair/servicing dealer carry no spare parts for these 'obsolete' tools. For the 20v drill you can't even botch together alternative spares as all the main drills by reputable supplies are 18v. For my Makita or Bosch tools that are many years old and giving sterling service, I can still get spares I require. Because I needed a new drill I bought an 18v Bosch drill and impact driver set on offer at Screwfix for close to what a single drill with battery would cost separately. That deal gave me, drill, high output driver, 2x1.0AHr batteries, charger, system storage box and 4AHr battery direct from Bosch. The extra battery will allow me to purchase another cordless (bare) unit, which will be another saving.

Your 18v and 20v batteries will be the same voltage, as they will almost certainly contain the same number of cells. (5 in a series). Pretty much all drill batteries use 18650 cells. They are advertised as 3.7v but in reality they are charged up to 4.2v so it depends how honest the manufacturer's are with their advertising.

I particularly like that little bench grinder amazing for the money , that organiser set was awesome for the money to that stuff used to cost an absolute fortune from RS components ( like everything from there I guess ) but that’s great value. I thought the file set was nice to because you had a decent handle you could lock to the file shaft so many times you get stuff like that and the handles to small or they slip of the file shaft .. good review 👍

We had to exchange a metal bandsaw to Aldi (it could have been Lidle, but it was one of these two)…it was only because the Allen key nuts to tighten/release the blade guides was over tightened during manufacture and impossible to undo…their entire process was faultless and they couldn’t have been more helpful…arranged a collection of the faulty one, and sent out a new one without any quibbles whatsoever. Park side is pretty good, especially when you consider the price….with the exception of some squares that weren’t square, we’ve found the brand excellent value and performance. We like Proxxon tools…but my budget doesn’t stretch that high very often!

Parkside it hit & miss... I borrowed a bunch of parkside tools from a friend's neighbour to work in his house. The cordless drills were pretty good, the circular saw however is a hazard, I would not touch it with a 10 foot pole. That is just a crap and dangerous tool by nature, but in other cases it is their QA that fails. I got the Parkside 4 in 1 welder, as well as the plasma cutter. Both items had something wrong with it, the welder was replaced (no hassle) and has since been performing to my complete satisfaction. In case of the cutter, some consumables were missing so I just ordered those separately. Good tools for the price, and great for hobbyists as long as you know what you are buying. Watch those reviews on YT!

There has never been an adequate parts back up service for power tools from Aldi,Lidl and the now defunct Netto stores. Just look at how many you see at car boot sales being sold for next to nothing because they need unobtainable new parts. Best to stick with the name brands.

Brushes are the normal thing to go, but these can be bought on the internet, you just have to buy something that fits and modify if needed. Brushes are easy to file down to size if needed.

Yes, LIDL has some batteries and chargers in stock almost always, but their tools are “while it lasts” items. At Aldi, it’s only “while it lasts” if they even have any.

I think with the small saws you need to push the blade deeper into the handle then drop the spring over the blade , the spring sits above the 2 lugs on the blade and stops it withdrawing on the backward stroke.

great vid, gotta say though, i ve had a few things from parkside (lidl), and its very hit an miss, i mean you do sort of get what ya pay for in some sense, ive had a drill blow, imapct driver from the perfomance line blow, ive got a jigsaw that isnt all that, and a grinder that seems to be doing ok atm, i only bought these cause of the prices etc and only used them for diy/home work, anything that requires proper work id use dewalt/makita or more professional... their attachments/bits etc seem to be very good for the price and seem to do well but power tools and stuff like that, risky chance, they are known for dying/blowing up fast, but then there is a chance ya get a good one, but again for the price, why not eh.

I know unboxing videos are popular, but a good understanding and some experience of the contents would be far more useful. Like the left hand cases of drill bits contain anti-clockwise bits. I buy these economy tools when they are reduced, an interesting lottery.
@dansmodelrailways7886
@dansmodelrailways7886 Жыл бұрын
I find that the biggest issue with some of these tools, is the lack of any sort of instruction. So i was unaware of the anti-clockwise bits.

Hi, I'm from Greece, unfortunately I fall into the same hole every time, and that's because I have a Lidl in my neighborhood so I bought two corner grinders, all of them broke in a month I bought a plasma cutter that broke in two days and was returned, which was also very expensive I bought a sandstrall didn't work at all I bought cordless drills, can't find any batteries, they sell 21volts in the market but no batteries, and my drill is 18volts I bought a lot of tools and they all ended up in the trash lidl sells cordless with new trik e-tools but without battery, cheating from the first moment, it's when you buy a new car without a motor and you know what, there are shops in my country that often give great prices with good tools, you just have to search the internet and another very far from Banggood, they are all rubbish tools

Dear oh dear, Dan for a tool reviewer, you're not very well clued up are you? The clear parts you pulled from the grinder box are guards to protect you from the debris shown off the wheels, the metal parts aren't fixings for attaching to the bench, they are spark arrestor/mounting brackets for the previously mentioned guards, and also a couple of tool rests.
@dansmodelrailways7886
@dansmodelrailways7886 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info Roger. I did state i knew what the guards were for, and when i do a more in depth look at the grinder, which i will soon, then i’ll be putting all the attachments on. I don’t claim to be an expert in these things. I just buy and look at tools i think will be helpful to the modelling or wider community.
