Classic was my first vanilla experience I foolishly went for a warrior with mining/blacksmithing At lvl 40 I had about 29 gold (selling copper ores gave a surprising amount) That's when I found out I had about 15 abilities to buy And my armor was broken And my sword was outdated So what'd I do? Farm SM armory of course Because that's what people say a warrior should do But I was a foolish one I had gone for protection spec I had no axe skill I had nothing of value All I could do was grind until I was high enough level for Mograine, then get his shield for some extra stats, then keep doing SM armory for gold Then at lvl 46 I could finally afford the damn mount It was the second best memory of Classic I have, buying that mount

My very first toon was a druid, didn't mount anyway. Then my second was a paladin, I learned at the trailer. Never really experienced this mount thing, by the third char. I had money.

PSA: If you want a level 40 mount, grind STV lvl 36-38 cats starting at level 38 all they way till 40. The greys stack up to 5 and sell for 7-8 silver each. You can also make a jungle stew-recipe with Tiger Meat, lvl 1 Water and Red apples that goes for 3s Vendor price and you make 2 per recipe. That means an average of at least 12 silver per kill. If youre Skinning, that should add a decent amount too. I did so and by the time i dinged 40 i had 120 gold in my pockets. Easily enough for Trainers and Mount.

As someone whos first class he leveled when he first played wow back in vanilla was warrior, this hits way to close to home lol. I had like a mild form of "wow ptsd" even to this day, everytime I start a new toon, im forever making sure i farm while I level so I would have enough gold by the time I get 40, even if i didnt need to lol.

I'll say it again. When starting WoW, you save everything until level 40. Sell any mats of value and gear on AH. Rare Enchanting mats are pretty good value. Die as little as possible. Kill everything and invest 8 -10 slot bags (the bigger and cheaper. The better.) Also soloing low level dungeons can help.

1. Quest, a lot 2. Sell useful stuff you find on the AH. Skinning and herbalism/mining are recommended 3. Fight tooth and claw when grinding lesser rock elementals/normal rock elementals when questing 4. Only buy skills you are going to use (If you are levelling a warrior and you buy slam, shame on you)

I just don't get how people can struggle with managing their ingame finances so much. Only buy the skills you strictly need, don't buy equips on Auction House and kill plenty of mobs/do instance runs selling everything you get. I bought my mount at 39 and had to wait until 40 just to be able to train the riding skill.
