Alec Waters was on his third tour of Afghanistan with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers when he stood on an IED and lost both his legs at the knee.
A fellow soldier who was wearing a headcam captured the crucial minutes between the bomb detonating and the arrival of the Chinook helicopter - minutes where Alec’s life was hanging by a thread.
It’s only in the last few years that he’s been able to watch the footage back and now, 10 years on, Alec describes what happened to him on that fateful day.
