Yes, afghan was part of vedic India. There are long cultural ties. After being hindu, it was also budhist for long time, that's why you had those tallest budha statues at Bamiyan. But islamic invaders had distroyed the cultural heritage of Afganistan that goes back 10,000 or more years. Because Indian and afghan culture was same you see so much similarity in dresses, foods, body features etc. Language has been influenced a lot with turkic and Arabic words. There is no point in refusing past, because past has a lot of lessons for present and future.

They were anyways supposed to go away one day as they were forigners in the land who tried to impose alian western values. A country can rise only if people are rooted. Change needs to come from within organically. Just like happened in Turkey in the time of Ataturk. Or what is happening in India right now. Afgans aslo need to embrace their past and study it. Learn what took it towards decline and poverty and stay away from those elements in the future. This is how you rebuild the culture and nation.
