I'm reluctant to agree with the Carlton part of that statement, only because I'm North but the rest I agree with. But it is good to see the blues back being competitive, they've been so disappointing since they lost Daniel Wells in the draft.

@@sergiosaunier in regards to 99, I understand the heartbreak but beating Essendon in the prelim by 1 point was a fantastic achievement considering they were arguably the best team all season, plus you eliminated Essendon. Coincidentally in 96, Sydney did the same thing to Essendon, beat them in the prelim by 1, both were great games and great years for North. 95 was a ridiculous season for you guys, was I 1 or 2 losses for the whole year? Sweet 16

I'm a North supporter, just putting that on the table. Carlton is the real deal. It's tough to beat the Kangas at Marvel now. Forget Sydney at the SCG last week, that's meh. For people hammering the umpires......just go to 6:26 of this video. Just do the freeze frame. Lol McKay gets the free kick, but Curnow has his jumper pulled as well. Could've been 2 free kicks.

Incorrect disposal, meaning he had the opportunity to kick or handball it but was tackled causing him to lose possession before he could successfully dispose of it, aka - holding the ball or "ball" for short Edit: technically the free kick is for "dropping the ball" which is a variation of "holding the ball" but they rarely call it "dropping the ball" these days, incorrect disposal covers it

If a player gets tackled and doesn't dispose of the ball either via legal kick or handball, then it's a free kick to the opposition (the person who tackled you gets the free kick)

Another game where the umpires had a major influence on the game. There were times they may as well have worn navy blue. This happens practically every time when North play Carlton. Gifted easy goals from free kicks and 50s.

i was at the game and felt like the umpiring wasnt good, but pretty consistent on both sides, only difference is umpires seemed much more eager to pay free kicks inside 50 to carlton. the 50 meter penalty was stupid though, soft as they come. (im a north supporter)

Proud of Norf. They showed they can bring it to the top teams. But that was one of the worst umpired games I've seen. Trips not paid, high tackles not paid, holding the ball not paid (but silly ones paid), silly 50 m penalty.. The lower ranked teams get the bottom tier umpires.
