I have the same heads on my 355sbc. The difference in my engine is my compression is 10.38, my cam is Howards 110 265-10 HR, my intake is the Edelbrock rpm air gap with a 750 Holley. I have a 4 speed with 373 rear gears. I agree with you on the performance of these heads. They exceeded my expectations. My little small block runs very well. I have a short video showing my engine and car on KZbin.

I have a stupid question about the open holes you can see where the intake bolts to the heads. What are they? You can see at 59 sec of video on far side of engine near the front just above the intake. Love the build.
@CarGuyV82 ай бұрын
It’s not a stupid question. These heads can use Vortec intakes too, which have 2 vertical bolt holes per corner. These heads can also use center bolt valve covers.

Thank you for the information, I now it is time consuming to put all of this together. Great build, I am building a Gen 1 350 for my 71 c10 and will likely order this same set of heads. going to run a retro fit hydraulic roller. Best Wishes Micky C

it should have said (( I Know )) Oh and I just ordered the same heads like two minutes ago and piston and rods and ring and a bunch of other stuff too...

I bought these heads with a compcams extreme 4x4 hydraulic roller cam Duration 260/264, Lift 474/.474 for 72 blazer any other recommendations of what else I should for most power and reliability🤔
@CarGuyV82 ай бұрын
These heads will easily support higher lift camshafts, so I’d run a good set of 1.6 roller rockers with that cam. Get some good long tube headers and exhaust. You should be golden.
@arodderz3 күн бұрын
I just upgraded to 1.6 myself. Those heads will love the extra lift. Your cam will now have a lift of .507. ( .474 + .033= .507) 🤙

Engine masters did a 383 with the same cam? It made 479hp? Im running a xr294hr with a victor jr with 10.68-1. i think my little 383 should scream when i get it in.

You should easily be at 500 crank hp with that setup.

@arodderz the same castings as the AFR enforcer heads, just standard valve diameter is the only difference.

I was about to call bullshit on your claim to your rpm on the highway but when you mentioned that you are running 28 inch tires I get what you are saying lol. Im gonna go with 255/70R15 tires for the taller gearing. As for my heads, i picked up two pairs of early camel hump heads. 461 heads and 462s for $500. Screw in studs. Love the camaro content!

Ought to be a pretty stout engine with those heads. Thanks for watching.

What rockers are you running on these heads and were you able to achieve true mid-lift geometry?
@CarGuyV823 күн бұрын
PRW rocker arms. I used longer pushrods to achieve proper geometry.

I hate to bother you with questions but if you have the time to answer it would help my mind. So my AFR enforcer heads already arrived ! ! ! ! ! Sweet What headers do you have attached? I noticed the exhaust ports on these heads are square and was curious if I should be looking for headers with a square port to accommodate the heads for flow. Also, do you recall the part number on the intake from Edelbrock for your intake manifold? There are so many that say EPS and of course trying to find intake with similar ports to match heads. Thank you for any help you may offer through your experience. Micky C
@CarGuyV85 ай бұрын
@@MickyC0601 Congrats! Edelbrock 2701 is the part number for the intake. I couldn’t find a reasonably priced square port header for my Camaro so I used a large set of 1-3/4” oval port headers for it. If you sort by “cylinder head port shape” on Summit racing I’m sure you can find something.
@MickyC06015 ай бұрын
@@CarGuyV8 you are correct on the sorting on summit but wow they were expensive. Thank you very much for the information, I really appreciate it. Best Wishes, Micky C

They flow less than Vortec heads but good enough to have plenty of fun with them.

What’s your opinion on going from 3.27 rear end gears to 3.73 on a 69c10 with mild 355sbc
@CarGuyV87 ай бұрын
@@JaviOro1968 I’ll need to know what size your tires are and what transmission you’re running to give a good answer.
@@JaviOro1968 your sm465 already has a very aggressive transmission gear ratio. Me personally, I’d hang onto the 3.27s. 3.73s will add roughly 500 rpm at your current cruising speed.
