SLinnemann Art It gets SUPER unscary when you figure out the game logic and the way it works. For example: When you’re “transported” to somewhere you don’t recognize (You can confirm where you are with a lighter, if it doesn’t work, you’re not in the house anymore and you’re safe to do whatever), your sanity will not decrease, hence, no one will come after you and you can’t die. That is, of course, unless you you walk STRAIGHT into a scripted event (ex: On entering room, spawn entity outside room). When you’re in the house (The version I played, at least), the entity doesn’t SPAWN until your sanity becomes “dangerously low” and the game literally tells you when it crosses that border! Things like this that are easy to figure out work against a horror game.

I think these games would be scarier if the monster or ghost never turned up. Can you imagine playing hours of a game like this constantly waiting? As soon as you see the entity a few times they lose their impact, they just become another NPC like any other with a distinct look and set pathing. If you never find out what it is to lose then your mind is free to imagine the worst

The problem of that would be the replay value, and spoilers would ruin the game. Maybe sanity effects that change the environment, or monsters with randomized traits, to grant some semblance of anxiety and unpredictability.

Thomas Shelton but gone home wasn't really horror, it was commentary... it makes it more credible because you see it with your own two eyes, but it also fixes it; your brain stops running wild once you see what's chasing you. Imagination is the most important tool that good horror exploits

Chase Ong agree with you there, but I think the people who replay outlast or res vii are few and far between. Horror games, hell, even most horror movies, are a one-time experience. They get you the first time but never again. Unless we're talking about something like Hereditary, but that has rewatch value because of its themes, execution and symbolism

Finally, they found a way to get the best of Rahul in these videos. I sometimes get the feeling Rahul is a little awkward and out of place amongst the Funhaus crew in videos.. maybe he's a little star struck being around such huge names in the entertainment industry. But you know sometimes people take time to grow.. to adapt. Its okay to understand and be at peace that the people around you are in general more talented and certainly better looking than you. So to see that Rahul has finally found his place in these videos is a truly beautiful thing. Keep it up Rahul!
