I don't think she gets it, neither does her daughter. She looks great but she is already talking about straightened. She wanted to hide her ears, they are now. Some people think they want change and then when they get it they don't appreciate it. I think Christopher did an awesome job.

I had a lazy hairdresser do this to me. No color change and hardly blew dried it. The natural look. The hairdressers around him were praising him. Uh huh. Just blend it with your fingers. Very few women can do that and look better. For all the accolades his work is inconsistent and she deserved the same care as the ones who are changed for the better. AND they made her sit there after he was done.

Another thing that would help the makeover is to get an optician that sells really cool glasses - not a chain store but a boutique type. Usually when people change their hair color and cut, their old frame doesn't work anymore.

As a stylist /salon owner for 50 years(just retired) I thoroughly enjoy watching these videos. He does a great job of personalizing each cut to the particular clients needs. I got a kick out of this one in particular! The worst thing is when a client has a daughter come with her! When one of my clients brought in her daughter I used to say " we can absolutely do her hair the way you want it....however....then you must let me do your hair the way your mother wants it! I actually had to tell one client I would not cut her hair if she brought her husband with her. They argued back and forth with her wanting her massively thick hair short while he wanted it long. The whole while she is whispering to me telling me to ignore him! I do have a schedule which does not include time for arguing.......argue at home people! I got a kick out of it. The daughter completely took the joy of the moment away from her mother ( who looked fabulous) and made her question the results! Oh I must say I do not miss some aspects of the job! This woman was 1000% better after her makeover!

Wow, rude daughter & ungrateful mom, imo. I think Christopher did a great job. If she can’t do her hair, then he gave her the perfect style! Change is difficult & I don’t think she was ready for it, especially since it was her husband’s idea. I actually felt bad for Christopher with this one. It’s okay if she doesn’t like it, but if she could see herself through our eyes, she’d see that she looks SO better after. So much younger & definitely more stylish!

Here's my guess: Her husband asked her to get extensions. He wanted her hair longer and thicker, and she was coming home with shorter hair. I worked in a salon for a bit, and learned there are some men who get angry if their wife gets more than an inch cut off. One client's husband gave her the silent treatment when she cut all of her hair off. No idea about this woman's situation, but my guess is she expected her husband to be angry that she got what looks like four inches cut off her hair. (I didn't think she was rude, just reserved.)

In the best case, husband is just clueless and trying to "problem solve" by giving specific solutions that worked for other people. Doesn't mean it's what she needs and if she was never a makeup and hair person it is hard to learn at this point. Some people don't see themselves accurately. How this women is concerned about what people will think at work, or possibly doesn't like the change this shocks me. Before, her hair made us notice her nose and ears and she looked boyish. After, she was the full package and her eyes got the attention and nice mouth as well. This look is so elevated!

And it seems like her daughter is following in his foot steps. Don’t get me wrong this is a huge improvement, but It is obvious that she hates her hair and I don’t blame her. This is not a flattering look for her. Should have never removed her length and scrunched the hell out of her hair. I would have loved to see her as a redhead with hair that frames her face and hair extensions to give her volume and more length just below her shoulders. Then she needed a cut that frames her face and softens her features plus a side fringe to shorten her forehead. Makeup was a little too understated but with hair that cutesy I can see why.

Even though she was miffed at the end, she should've watched the whole process instead of hiding then she would've appreciated the transformation. She's lovely. Before and after the makeover. I love how he did the hair, enhancing the natural curl in the hair. So sexy (but not too much). Maybe this customer is afraid of looking free and sexy. Hope she embraces it! Really, as Sing Blue Silver says in previous comment, ditch the hubby. He tells her she needs to go get a makeover, schedules it, pays for it, and says she needs extensions too. How about loving and supporting her as she is? I bet the husband could use a makeover (something Christopher loves to say when he knows that a husband is making demands on how the wife should look). And the daughter needs to be supportive too. A person is very vulnerable when getting all this done, and needs support!

I don't want to sound rude, although I probably will ....lol, but this lady particularly needed a new face. TheMakeOverGuy did work a miracle on her, wether she wanted to acknowledge it or not. We all saw her face before, she was all nose and ears, with flat shapeless hair. She ended up with much less nose, a beautiful complexion and a very funky, fun hairstyle to bring her out of her lifeless expression and totally covered her big ears! What else did she want?? Maybe she wanted to look like Charlize Theron at the end, but for that, she needed to be reborn from different parents! Christopher is a hairstylist not God!!! lol

I think she was hard to please because it wasn't her who wanted the makeover. Or she might have been pondering but I'm not sure how I would take if my husband pointed out si "subtly" that I'm not good enough. @@Kif_Lee - I hope for the best for everyone. There are options and short cut tips for people who have trouble with duplicating a process. Some are just unable to. Bear in mind, she seemed puzzled as to why she was there, except that she & daughter would have some fun! Some people just don't see any need to tamper with their appearance. (That's why I thought she was an internal sort of person) If she liked her curls she could have a soft perm, and cut into a wash and wear style. Or she could choose to have it lightened, more highlights. She could get some permanent makeup colour on brows and eyeliner. Her skin is good, so some mineral makeup dusted on and lipstick could be all she needs to do! Chris went with her natural aspects which are the most flattering! If the husband doesn't love her for herself, loyalty and motherhood to his children, superficial changes won't change his heart. The blonde straight extensions sound more like a fantasy of his! She could get a wig to wear in the bedroom? Perhaps he meant well. We don't know.

I think she looks better than she did coming in but not as great as everyone is saying. People have different ideas of what they are comfortable in. If that were me, I would not have been happy with that haircut. It was way more of a "messy, tousled" look than I would have wanted. And, if her husband wanted extensions, he will not be happy with this shorter messy look. I imagine it costs a pretty penny for his makeovers and I don't think this one was worth it. It doesn't seem like he even tried or did anything besides chop off the hair at the bottom. On the plus side, this is the first of these makeovers where I personally think they didn't overdue the makeup. She probably insisted on limits on that and if so, good for her!

Her hair looks great, you can see that Christopher did everything he could to please her, he is a patient fellow. The woman should get her ears pinned back, it's done as an out patient and takes a few days to heal.

Christopher has had his ears done too & I don't think they were bad at all before he had them done but being a perfectionist, they would have been playing on his mind. Now his ears look like every Hollywood actor who has their ears done.

I have a suspicion that she didn’t feel as beautifully transformed as she was, which is sad. I suppose all of us are our own worst critics and would be surprised (in a good way) if we could see ourselves through the eyes of others if only for a moment... The truth is that she looked great. That hairstyle really brought her look up to date. The makeup was soft and pretty. I hope by now she has had time to appreciate how cute she looks.

This is a two year old video and I am feeling really crabby tonight, and she can feel any way she wants to about her hair, but she came in looking like a sad mop and Christopher made the most of her gorgeous natural hair that would take her 2 seconds and a spritz of curling spray in the morning and she was so concerned about what she thought she wanted or what her husband's expectations were that she totally disconnected from the whole experience. Which is so sad, really. Don't stay in your sad rut, curly headed lady! Open yourself up to change. It's inevitable, after all. And fun!

I've been binge watching your videos and forwarding all of them to my mother. She's a lovely woman who just forgot how to take care of herself because she's focused on us over the years. She deserves the pampering but somehow thinks she doesn't need it. I just hope she'll change her mind because I can't force her to these changes. She needs to want them herself. I have horrendously curly, frizzy dry hair. I hate it. Bane of my existence. God bless John Frieda for having the first silicone based serum. I have to add oil to my hair. I recently cut off the length, and I still straighten it. All I ever wanted as a teenager was Christie Brinkley string straight hair. I totally get her.

She looks FAR better than b4. Some people think great stylists can turn them into people they arent. I think she & her husband wanted her to look like Kim Kardashian, & disappointed that didnt happen. Extentions & straight hair wouldve looked horrendous & wouldve pulled her hair down more & emphasizing her aging & her larger ears, nose & chin. She needs shorter wavy hair to bulk it up & cover her ears & de-emphasize her other larger features. Hairstyle must make the face look better. Hair that looks great on someone else can make our face look far worse.

@FreedomBee Absolutely right!!! We should wear the hair, not the other way around. You can not make certain hairstyles fit what you look like. Some women put on a particular wig and think they look gorgeous because the style is beautiful, but if it clashes with the rest of you , I feel bad to say, sorry, you don't. Just not right for you. There is a woman who was wearing short wigs and looked very, very pretty. Now she's playing with long styles and sometimes looks ridiculous. Don't like to say such things, but it's true, she looks like she's trying to be back in her teens while she's in her 70s.

She went from a very, plain, rather masculine-looking, aging woman to a gorgeous, feminine, colorful, younger woman. The haircut framed her face, too. At the beginning, she mentioned hair extensions…..um, no, I don’t think she’s prepared to properly care for them. Besides, long hair only makes her face look longer and pulled down as she ages. Her husband probably gave her instructions on what he wanted or expected, as he paid for it. She said it was “a gift”, so she should not have had to be intimidated by him. Although this makeover was done years ago, I hope it helped provide her with some inspiration and direction on taking better care of herself.

Seems like in this video the lady is too hard on herself. But she did look younger and glam. Dunno why the daughter didn't compliment her right away? The key was she wanted something easy to duplicate for herself everyday. A good artist listens. That's why he is so good at this. Also his makeup girls/guys are really good too :).
