Damn Maru has such killer instinct. He knows exactly when Hero has a smaller army (but bigger economy) and pulls SCVs and kills him.

yeah, for real... And seemingly without any explicit information. His game-sense is unreal. I don't understand what he saw that triggered him to pull the boys each time, but he knew exactly what was happening on the other side of the map even without using scans or sending scouting units. Hero thought he tricked him in that game where he only had 3 phoenixes, and that he got away with being greedy for a bit. I thought so too -- I thought Hero made a great call being so riskily greedy after the poor phoenix opener. But then out of nowhere Maru reveals that he knew what was up the entire time, pulls the boys, and just destroys him!

Probably when he saw those 3 phoenix awkwardly "zoning" him away at the entrance of his natural. He probably knew that he had low-to-no army whatsoever and was using those 2 minutes to build up economy and prepare his production. Which is exactly what was happening. hero had 3 phoenix, 40 probes and was setting up the third base, making more probes and building 5 gateways at the same time. So Maru basically broke that weak zoning of the phoenix by making his 3 units advance, then roamed his half of the map for a while, realized it was totally empty and deduced the obvious thing: there was no stalkers(or they'd be there adding pressure alongside the now 4 phoenix). So he pulled out his organically grown terran army, pulled out his SCVs to absorb damage and zealot charges and won the game.

hero improved so much in the short time he has come back. I think he's probably the hope of the Protoss race because Zest is definitely dropping the ball hard

Zest has been working pretty hard and score some big victory lately, being the first person to beat Rogue in a bo7 on live stage. Can’t help that he’a going to the military soon and probably feel the pressure to play well every game because he’s running out of time.

It is not for nothing if he doesn't use those 6 stalkers (and just click them right back home) that he delay the push of Maru for like 10-20 seconds, he will have one less round of army produced at home, which could be an immoral and a few gateway units. SO it would still be the same if not worse. You can say if he control perfectly (delay Maru without losing them), then he won't lose them, but one people can only do so much, he need to macro economy, need to produce unit.. need to make building ready for Maru push and then finally control those stalkers.

They didn't delay the push or kill anything, he literally just threw them away. If he had faster reaction time he could have saved all of them.

I think we're seeing the law of unintended consequences and blizzard's cock-ups in Zest v Bunny and now Maru v Hero. -Zerg: OMG forcefield too good! -Blizzard: ok, we need to give Z a hatch-tech hard counter so they can still play greedy without teching... herp derp, Ravager -Blizzard: also: game too boring, start with 12 workers *Ravagers proceed to be used as a seige unit in early game rushes and a massive zoning and burst damage tool in all matchups, while zerg goes out of control for several years -Protoss: OMG roach ravager too good -Blizzard: Herp-derp SHIELD BATTERY *initial shield battery fails miserably -Blizzard: Herp-derp OVERCHARGE plus VOIDRAY BUFF *Protoss proceeds to voidray+battery rush Terrans at all levels I think the state of the game is bullshit. Yes Terran can hold IF they're superior in skill, place their buildings perfectly and repair perfectly. But Protoss can pin them on one base, allowing for an extreme variance in opening metagame, and worse, a stable transition out of it. Lose a probe, several pylons, voidrays? No problem, start your nexus ahead of the Terran and play a more or less even game. We've gone from cheeses being extreme gambles to cheeses being stable with macro transitions. That's bullshit for the game and why Microsoft (cough cough) is the best news this game has had for years.
