Governments have massive incentives to keep people poor and dependent on them so they can promise changes every election for votes. They have the incentive to make the public feel that the problems are impossible to solve without government. So when Mr.Beast comes along and easily fixes all these problems, then suddenly the government's monopoly of control over helpless people shatters. Once people realize that the government is nothing more than a massive scam, the government is done for. That's why they're mad and doing everything they can to tarnish Mr.Beast.

@@jumpy2783 My main guess about the African government in particular is due to lack of global public scrutiny as well as dependence on the government. The US government for example is the center of media attention, so a lot of what it plans to do will be blasted into the news 24x7. Also americans tend to be more independent and less dependent on the government, plus have the right to free speech which allows them to openly criticize their government. In that sense, I believe that the African government can get away with stuff because - People are too dependent on their government with the belief that problems aren't solvable without government solutions. There's a lack of free speech, which could lead to censorship, especially of anyone criticizing government policies which combined with their dependence on government can lead to their belief that whatever the government does is in their best interest. Its a vicious cycle of keeping people eternally dependent on their government which only breeds more dependence as the government takes away people's ability to be independent. Its not just Africa either, several asian countries like India have fallen in that trap as well, where the government can even get away with atrocities just because they know that people will beg for more government to solve problems created by the government.

I think Kenyans are embarrassed because, bc Kenya is one of the wealthiest African nations and if you go to Nairobi, it’s very westernised, there are skyscrapers, theres infrastructure, there a high quality of life, so you’re living in a bubble. We do have to consider the fact that western countries have been completely stripping Africa of all resources and capital since like the beginning of time. We can’t just blame African governments for not having money to create this infrastructure without looking at why this is the case. Obviously every government is pretty corrupt but it’s also obvious this government has substantially less money to work with. This financial aid is nothing compared to the damage that was done over all this time

Good on Mr. Beast for helping people, although I can also understand the argument that eventually the wells will break down and will need maintenance. Hopefully he will stay on top of it or others will hop in and do so. I've heard about problems in more rural areas as well where thugs or government authorities will step in and block access to those wells in order to charge exorbitant prices for clean water, hopefully that doesn't happen. I'm all for helping others when you can, but it is also true that one must consider future ramifications of their actions as well when doing so. Good intentions can often lead to disastrous results. Let's hope itll work out for the better
