It is quite an eye opener when you first see an Eland. The size hits you straight away. Antelopes are meant to be small are they not?

I am so grateful that I found a video that showed the Eland, but not shooting the Eland. I didnt realize how rare it was to have photographed one, but I’ve so enjoyed learning about them.

There is little in this clip to provide scale other than the glimpse of the zebra at 1:14.

Crazy that Lions can bring these massive things down alone.

Only because they are slow. More depressing is man takes them down.

Only in rare cases, I have seen incidents where an entire pride including 2 males failed too take down one

How do they escape from hungry predators as they are slow and quite big?
@PHALANX473 жыл бұрын
Michael, they do fall prey, but for Africa' biggest antelope they are quite fast, but their main defence is their agility. When startled they can leap 2 mts and this confuses the predator, giving it time to escape.

They're not slow, can run up to 50 km/h, can run for half an hour and jump as high a 3 meters. They're also very strong and often dominate cape buffalos in dwells.
