Africa Twin Adv Sports 2022 engine oil burning #africatwin1100 MUST WATCH!

Hi My NT1100 has just been in for oil consumption issues (1/4 liter every 1,000 miles). Same engine as Africa Twin. I was contacted by my Honda dealer. It took about 2 hours and they changed the breather plate on rocker box and baffles with in it, where breather pipe comes out of top of engine. It covers 3 models! I also had oil in my drain tube from air filter, the back 1 above oil filler then above starter motor. Fingers 🤞 all sorted.

Done about 400 miles, a smear in rear drain from air box (probably residual) and oil level maybe a millimeter ? So will give till 1000 miles but upto now 👍

@@TimmyTookaLook wait a a bit more. Some 2000km and than take a measure! But proper, hot engine, than turn off and wait 15min to sit the oil!!!!! They changed me same piece, and still same oil consumption. Note me: 1600km I added 600ml of oil means some 1000miles pal!!! With new piece and oil…problem remains 😫

@@TimmyTookaLook the another mechanic here in honda told me that normal consumption is 200ml per 5000km!!! I am agree with that!

Nothing yet, they will sort out when they have solution

now looks like is better and no consumption. problem was the oil, now they put 10W40

@@michsky46 Thanks. They replaced in my NT 1100 the cover and it seems to be better. With oil, I need to check if I can use 10w 40 because I have a DCT gearbox.

@@lemy650 with dct I think u cant! There must he 10w30

@@lemy650 do you have consumption problems with your DCT model? Are you able to use 10/40?

I do have cmx1100 and AT 1100 and i use them every day the same use the same engine and i don't have this problem just check the filter or somewhere if you have leaks. Honda should fix it so.

I think is depends. Honda had a problem with scratched cylinder walls. They will have to fix it coz is in warranty. 3months old, 8200km

Have a very similar issue Honda and the dealer are batting me between each other with excuses, great bike but disappointed with the oil issue

I have changed to 10W40 oil and so far way better. that was honda. Now I put 10W40 Motul7100 full synthetic and it should be even better. Otherwise Honda Benelux(Europe) bunch of WANKERS. Excuses, all my fault etc, in reality u can take them to court, but that take time. I am staying with Honda anyway

in perspective; was in big trip in Turkey- 8500km and on that travel consumed approx 900ml of oil. before with 10w30 every 1500km, some 500ml to 800ml!!!!

Hi how is it going?, thanks for doig this video. My engine has the same issue, I have been traveling and I relized that the oil level was getting down, it is burnig at lesat 200 ml of oil each 1000 km, I refill the Engine with Honda oil 10w 30 and it burned 800 ml in 3000 Km, in other hand the bike is 2023 and it has just 9000 Km.. so How did you sort out it? how can I fix it? thank for give me a hand.

Hi, I already did new video! they have change the rocker cover and did engine compression test(was good). was still running 10w30 and was consuming anyway! now they have change oil to 10w40, seems better but still consuming, I am running long term test so will update! first part went very good, was consuming less, let see... will send u a link with my video. Honda Europe very rude and technical department just excuses! they already sent me rudely away

I own a 22 africa twin and just under 8k no oil issues still at upper level on dip stick. I use Amsoil 10-40

Man, from last top up of 1l in montenegro i did 2000km and dint burn anything sooo weird man!

Honda told me they will probably change me to 10w40, coz is thicker

@@michsky46did you try with 10W40? I think it would be better, maybe Motul. Have you tried it? I am out of warranty and I think I will try 10W40 and then 10W50 in the summer

@@tibosee i texted to honda benelux one the main here in EU to sort out my problem. In garage they told me the same: may be we change the oil to 10w40

you are not alone. that is common problem. honda Europe does know well about it. it seems your wngine die. oil rings and piston chamber walls are scratced to die...

In honda they said , I visited 4 in 3 countries that the engine sits and will be fine
