As a South African I have loved watching your videos of SA. I have been in Cape Town for about 3 years now, lived in Joburg for about 10 years before that., so it's been really nice so see a foreigner's perspective on those 2 cities. I actually just wanted to thank you, because honestly your optimism about of SA is refreshing. I'm sure you might have similar experiences with America but when you've spent your entire life in a place you are all too aware of the dark underbelly of that place. It's nice to be reminded every so often of the goodness of my country, and of Cape Town in particular.

@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFE Piggybacking on what @annalizevanderwalt7579 said: most of our wine farms in the Cape have lovely restaurants (not just the fancy, fine dining type either) and delis, and many of them have spaces for children to play. Spier wine farm even has a sanctuary for birds of prey (viz. Eagle Encounters), where some of the birds have been trained to put on shows. Anyway, yes. Come back and experience more. Come over to my parents' house even, for some bobotie or a snoek braai... We'd love to have y'all.

Joe-cq It is really sad to see that after nearly 30 years of "democracy", the majority black population is still confined to the "townships" the Afrikaners built to keep them, and most of them are not even trying to get out. It is like Rosa Park enjoying riding in the back of the bus. In the meantime, the nice cities the white folks built for themselves are decaying at rapid rate ever since the whites left them to build their own bunker neighborhoods. They are the only ones that can afford to fly in or out of the country. If you do not believe me, just go to any airport in SA.

Thanks for this. Cape Town is definitely one of the most beautiful cities in the world with the mountain and sea vistas pretty much everywhere you look. Next time try and go hiking when your baba is a bit bigger and also some water sports like canoeing, snorkelling, swimming, etc. I feel very lucky to live here 🤗

So glad you enjoyed your time in Cape Town, it's refreshing to see CPT from different eyes. The spiced doughnut covered in coconut that you had is called a Koesister, it's a Cape Malay pastry. Koeksister with two K's is a plaited deep fried pastry dunked in cold syrup, that's from Dutch origin.

Your videos are great! I love the enthusiastic and appreciative way you talk about your experiences and impressions of the places you have visited in our country. Yes, Cape Town is a gem. The Western Cape with its beauty is breathtaking with its vineyards, views and historic buildings etc. I hope you will visit SA again in the future. There is so much more to explore. Don't miss my hometown, Port Elizabeth, which has been renamed Gquebera ( not a popular name with the people living here. We were not consulted by the government so that we could choose a new name ourselves) The Metropol of our city has been called Nelson Mandela Bay for years, so the name ought to have been Mandela Bay. Anyway, our city is very interesting, and we have beautiful, clean beaches. Best of luck to you, and thank you for your channel. 😊😊😊

Next time you should hire a car and explore the Western Cape, the Garden route is nice, spend a day at Knysna/Plettenberg bay and Mossel bay, visit Tsitsikamma National park. The West coast is also nice and it’s not far from Cape Town, Langebaan is approximately 120km from Cape Town and it is next to West coast National park. There’s a lagoon with turquoise coloured water, very beautiful.

From what I've seen/heard, it seems like they love Cape Town's beauty, but prefer staying in Johannesburg because: - Joburgers are fast moving go-getters. We Capetonians like to chill. It seems many of these African Americans are here to hustle and make money. Joburg is the place to be for that mindset. - Property is apparently much more expensive in Cape Town. - They feel more comfortable with the demographics in Joburg and Durban. I've often heard Cape Town described as "cliquey" and more racist compared to Joburg. I've lived in Cape Town all my life, so maybe I'm blind to it, but that's what I've heard. So ja, it seems like they treat Cape Town more as a holiday destination.

@@StAlfonzo87 If you are on a tourist visa, you can't work; therefore, I'm not sure what you meant by "African Americans are here to hustle and make money." Additionally, even if one could work, there would be little desire for Americans to earn rands, when one could easily earn dollars in the U.S.. Black Americans who are in SA on a tourist visa are vacationing.
@StAlfonzo87
@StAlfonzo87 Жыл бұрын
@@Blissful-es1kk Making money was a poor choice of words. Perhaps "conduct business" would've been better. I was thinking of the likes of Mansa Mayne (definitely did a lot of hustling), Asad El Malik, Changing The Narrative, Julian Albino, etc. They're not necessarily here to make money, but they all seemed to settle in Joburg for living permanently or conducting their business.

I am going home to the "Mother City" (Cape Town) for 3 weeks later this month and am so excited to see how everything has changed. Sadly many South Africans become jaded about SA (just like we do about the US) and yet, when one has been away from it for as long as I have, there is excitement about going back. Glad you got to enjoy Koeksisters and visit the BOO KAAP. lol . Look forward to following you guys further on your African continent adventure.
