Heavy! "(I Know) I'm Losing You" was a top ten hit for the Temptations in 1966 and for Rare Earth in 1970, albeit with a shorter single length version. Both groups were signed to Motown records. Rod Stewart also covered the song. It featured on his breakthrough album Every Picture Tells A Story. Rare Earth also covered The Temptations "Get Ready", taking that song to the top ten. They also took the song "I Just Want to Celebrate" to the top ten in 1971. As for the instrument riffing at the very end of the song, the melody line suggests bebop trumpet, but the sound is more like a saxophone than a trumpet, but it could be a guitar run through a fuzz effect of some sort. I'm not sure, but it's most likely a saxophone. PS. All the top ten talk is not to say the closer to number one the better the song, because what makes one song better than another is subjective. But it is to show how popular a song was back when it was new with an indicator of how likely it would have been to randomly hear the song on the radio back when.

Great reply my friend! Rod also covered Get Ready. He had an appetite for Mowtown. The Temptations were brilliant. Rare Earth gave a real Experience feel. Anyway, great and thoroughly well written reply. Good weekend to you and Faye And all Her viewers.
