Somehow I find myself being 60 years old, I never knew just how incredible Elvis truly was. Of course the technology wasn’t the same as it is now. For example, If you happened to miss the ‘68 Comeback Special when it was originally televised you may never have an opportunity to ever see it again. My 83 year old Elvis loving mother hasn’t got a clue or a memory of that iconic event ever happening and she loved the man. To be fair I was only 7 years old so she was most likely busy with me, my brother and also my younger sister at the time to be able to watch a prime time show. I was 16 when Elvis passed, I had just gotten my drivers liscense only a few weeks before he passed. I still remember my mom asking me if I would go to the grocery stand to pick up a few things. I was thrilled to drive anywhere by myself at the time. I was in the checkout line when I saw on the cover of the National Enquirer that Elvis had died. They actually showed Elvis in the casket and that vision really affected me because I had never seen a dead person before, let alone on the front page of a “periodical” in the checkout line. Anyway, KZbin has opened up a new world to me! I now understand the magnificence of this great man! Elvis Presley was different, he was unique, but in a good way. He was a mans man. I have no problem with Elvis being a role model for my two sons. After all Elvis was a good man who also respected and loved his mama. I’ve discovered that the more you listen to him the more you like him!
