Russia is absolutely beautiful. As to how large it is……Think of Canada and the U.S. combined which would be over 7 million square miles. Russia on its own is over 6 million square miles. That is why it is the largest country on earth. Also you were surprised at people skating on frozen lakes……We have ice roads in winter that use frozen lakes as roadways. They are quite capable of supporting large trucks and heavy equipment in the winter and are also used as runways for planes that have skis and some have special wheels.

@@MBDTalk Break through are very rare and of course ice thickness is tested before a road is made to travel on. It’s perfect for really remote communities that normally can only be accessed by plane, makes getting supplies to them much easier.

Oh okay but I can’t imagine how cold it would have to be to frizz a lake to that level.

@@MBDTalk The freezing process on a lake begins when the surface temperature reaches -4C and up north the temp easily drops to -40 to -50C or lower and it’s pretty safe to drive a truck on at 1 foot thickness of ice.
