Thanks Solomon for the hard talk. Senior Timothy Kalyegira is a well informed analyst. He carefully articulates his views without deliberately embarassing or offending anyone. Hope you can invite him back in the near future.

As a Kenyan I find this a very informative interview on the political landscape in Uganda. If I'm being honest, this is very worrying but we hope things will get to a point where the people of Uganda will rise up and demand for a better country. We wish you guys well.

Great analysis from your Sharp analyst. Important issue raised: informal and formal power structures It is true African leaders prefer informal power structures as opposed to formal power structures that are legitimately put in place by the constitution There are reasons and advantages for this. It is true informal power structures ensure power consolidation, bring in real intelligence, protect the state, ensures the state security and that of the supreme leader However informal power structures don't help that much during transition! Transition tend to be messy because of the intense fights in the informal Governments You can look how president Robert Mugabe failed to execute his transition. Zanu PF stalwarts rejected president Mugabe's succession plan Closer home in Kenya former president Uhuru appeared not to prefer his deputy to succeed him. The results were obvious. Formal Government structures tend to triumph over the wheeler dealers during transitions So the succession in Uganda shall be watched Keenly from Africa and all over the world

One can watch Timothy Kalyegira and wonder why is he not known and why do many Ugandans would watch or listen to Tamale Mirundi is that Museven's kind of politics doesn't appeal to an elite .He targets the large audience that can revolt as he confuses them with full finger. The president knows that power belongs to the people and if they decide to crusade for it, they can get it .The Ugandan elite cat throw stones, can't riot to him he has alot to lose. But to the lower class that is majority of Ugandans, the president can't get tired of working on them politically because they are the real threat to his power and he is right from the political view that's is why he will barricade, divert them with empty talkers to remain entertained so that they don't think .Don't wonder why Timothy Kalyegira is not anonymous to many Ugandans. This gallant General doesn't want people to think and have insight.

The vast majority of fighters in the NRA and UFM were Baganda men. As well, the PRA was composed of 67 men not 27. The other 40 had been trained at Kabamba during Lule’s presidency. Just wanted to leave that point of information

In 1980 election, the parliament did not vote for the president. It was base on the number of MP in parliament that determined one to be president or not. The people vote the party they want (MPs) but not the president. This is why the 1980 election was know as parliamentary election. The late President Obote became president because the UPC got more number of MP in that parliament than any other parties that participated. The one some Ugandans are talking about is not what happened in 1980. I think it is that, the ordinary people vote the MPs except the army. Then the MPs vote the president of the country.
