No matter in what way you approach the thought or initiative, hunting any of the reedbuck species will always remain a challenge and, if you challenge yourself enough an unforgettable experience. Especially when you throw the Vaal Ribbok (grey rhebok) into the mix. There aren’t many places you can hunt them and the of course you get places and you get places… Our hunting editor, Stefan Fouché, wanted to hunt both the mountain reedbuck (rooi ribbok) and the Vaalie in one hunting trip and cameraman Martin Müller, ownder of @AfricanSunProductions pointed him to Megan King and Ashley Keal from Kings Mountain Lodge near Tarkastad in the Eastern Cape.

It took me 7 days of hunting and 4 frustrating (far) opportunities to finally bag my Vaalie. Such a challenging species to stalk, many hunters will try and fail. I could only laugh when they were running from you from one koppie to the other with those tails in the air...that was my experience also, they just dont give anyone an easy chance. Epic stuff mnr this is a classy trophy.
