The continent will never be a unitary state. Some countries may choose to cede their nationhood sovereignty and republics to merge into a new entity, see EAC to EAF mi us DRC for example with stated intent. Others are headed in the opposite direction, with further Balkanization or secession from within. See Naija or Cameroon for national examples. Or take the AES exit from ECOWAS for regional examples.. Not only has AES become its own block, its leadership has already excluded several Afrikan countries from consideration for membership. A self admission that the region and by extension the continent will remain a multinational zone.

About 55% of Canada's exports is with the US, as a result this had the potential to seriously economically hurt Canada.
