Afro Cuban in 6/8 nr 1

This nice smooth 6/8 groove from Obatalamusiccom, is for two drums. Even though tt is very simple to play, it has two small variations which makes it possible to play several combinations with the basic groove. If you are two conga players playing, this rhythm goes well with the bembé.

Hey Wido. No I haven't got the name. I got the rhythm from Luis Abreau from The Papines years ago. And when I asked for the name of the rhythm, the answer was, "Afro Cubano". It is just like my batá version of Arará. I asked what the name was and was told Arará, but I forgot to get the specific name.

Hey Obatala, You Sound Great! The Bell fades in, so I’m not sure where the “American”, USA Beat ONE is. As I listen to the overall, I am hearing these examples played over an Inherent “3-2 Son Clave in 6/8”. Am I Correct, Big O ? Thanks for Posting !😀

No not a school, but I do know personally some of the best musicians in Cuba. This is where I learned all my stuff. My teacher in Cuba is Octavio Rodriguez from Grupo Mezcla. Besides himself he also have a lot of connections to other musicians, and his wife Santica rents out rooms where you can stay and eat together with the family. This is the best way to learn the music and the culture. The way of living i Cuba, gives you the right approach in the music. Please tell me if you want Octavios email address.
