Ashleigh with tatts - baaaad girl ! They look absolutely awesome. Junji Ito's manga I like to treat more as a work of art rather than a traditional book. Just imagine that the whole book is an unfolding ink painting. Japanese story telling tends to be non-linear and open ended - you might start in the middle of a story and you might never really reach a conclusion - a bit like real life. I'm really pleased you enjoyed it. Another manga author whose work and story telling style is similar is my personal favourite Tsutomu Nihei.

In Japan most manga are published a chapter at a time in magazines containing other stories all targeted to a specific kind of reader (so junji ito's work would have been in a magazine full of horror stories for adults) often once there are enough chapters then a story may be collected into volumes and possibly translated ito the manga we get in the uk) I think the closest UK approximation would be our comics beano etc for kids viz etc for grown ups.

I love tomie! It’s awesome. Tomie was originally realized in a magazine so each chapter is a different story because of that. There is an anime adaption of it too that’s pretty great.

I am reading something I'm loving, and would've been done by now, but my brain has been distracted with worky things and life stuff, so I wanted to say you're not alone in the struggle to sometimes not be able to just immerse your whole self into a book you are truely enjoying! The tatts look awesome and witchy for sure. Brave of you to get 2 tattoos on different arms on the same day! In my experience from just trying not to touch or rub a tattoo on anything, get it wet, etc. I'd think it be a lot harder on both sides of the body lol

I love your tattoos. However I also have a needle phobia and am fascinated at to how you manage that in relation to tatoos and piercings. Although I can manage my phobia due to being tested for being a kidney donor, by that I mean I have coping mechanisms when I need to get an injection or have a blood test, but have never been able to brave tattoos or piercings. In fact I went to get my belly button pierced when I was 18 and they couldn't do it because I couldn't calm down. I think our mind is such a mysterious place and love the idea of winning mine over to not being scared at all anymore.

It sounds like my phobia doesn’t show physically as much as yours does, but also when it comes to anxiety I can generally calm myself much easier if I feel I’m in control and can see the end game - i.e I knew how much I’d love it once done, and that is chosen this, and so could manage it. I also have new medication that helps with the physical effects of anxiety for me so it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I expected :)

Congrats on getting tattoos you are happy with. 😁 They are beautiful. I have a butterfly on my back and am not happy with it. I’ve had a few sessions to try to get it removed. Much more painful to remove than get it in. I was bullied and harassed into getting the tattoo. 😞 Thankfully I don’t work with that bully anymore.

I was definitely disappointed in The Library of the Dead. The library part was practically nonexistent and it was just a completely different story than I was expecting. I think I’d read from the author again but only after seeing other reviews first and not cover buying again.

Ashleigh, love your chanel 💜 Mangá generally are published weekly or monthly (depends on the magazine), chapter by chapter. And in some mangás the beginning often is a little episodic. When the mangá hits a number of chapters that the publisher could reunite them in a volume, they are republished in this format. Junji Ito works were probably reunited in a single tome to easy the reading and collecting for people.
