It’s crazy as I sit here and watch these episodes how much I learn and grow. I’m a young man at 51 years old and still learn every day. Love this Pod Cast and what they bring. Never had the honor of serving in the military. But respect all who do. My son is in Dev to be a PJ and turned me on to One’s Ready. I ask him all the time if there still taking applications. In a joking way of course. But thanks guys for bringing hope to what sometimes looks like a soft America. But I know for a fact you guys are helping the spec op community. Stay Savage LLTB

As a 25 year old, I felt personally attacked by that comment 😂 however, looking inward, it’s absolutely true. I’m in talks with a AFSPECWAR recruiter and one thing that gets into my mind is the fact that I am “comfortable” at home and currently have a decent career in the Army. So I have an “out” in case I fail the TACP Pipeline. I try to fight that mindset, but it’s absolutely something that plagues my mind. However, I’m working on. I don’t want to restrict myself because I’d be comfortable in case of failure 🤙🏼

The expectation is that you are doing everything possible to perfect yourself. The requirements are there to ensure that your maximize effort allows you to perform at level to do the job. I can 95% guarantee that a kid that is breaking themselves to do everything in their power to be their best and hitting at or just above the minimum will get more love and respect from cadre and teammates than an athlete that is not putting out.

I just started the IFT development sessions last Tuesday and I love it. The guys there are highly motivated and getting after it. We all Share great advice on how to improve and learn from one another. I’ve watched a lot of these One Ready Podcasts going in and they prepared me for a lot and really help clear up a lot of confusion. Hope to run into one of these guys in my career someday ! If not then thank you 🙏🏽 keep up the good work 👍🏽

Man, what to add: I teach a physician level trauma course, and have 18Ds and SOIDCS attend. They are constantly striving to exceed, always wanting more practice, more resources, harder cases. The docs? Just checking the box. RE: avoiding shit because of ego, gotta doing stuff in spite of the ego. Trip to visit ODA to do some training, went on the range, my shooting was...fair(ish). Embarrassing and humbling? Hell yeah. Motivating to get better? Hell yeah? I embraced the opportunity.

I found you guys after reading Alone at Dawn, which should be mandatory reading for anyone considering your career fields, and it's just an opinion that the cream will always rise to the top. The right people will find you as long as you put content out there. I made the decision to join the Air Force my freshman year in high school because the economy of western PA sucked in the late 70s into the 80s, and so did my stepfather. We had guys in my career field that were excellent and guys who were not. Luckily for my shop we had enough good people to carry the others. Same in basic and tech school. Kudos for the Bruce Lee reference to Trent.

I'd really prepare as far as form for the ift at swcc. Our swcc had a guy from dagre fail the ift and get droped.due to form. The "D1 coaches" that they love to brag about will smile in your face if you fail the ift. Due to improper form you could lose up to 20 reps and they wont tell you. Also SWCC is like a little bmt. If you remember the nonsense of bmt prepare mentally for that at swcc. Like switching from blues to ocp's on the hour every hour. The nco's at our swcc really struggled with being disrespected constantly like a bmt trainee. As an nco you will be in charge of your bay. The bay being the people you are roomed with. So prepare to be held to a high standard

For someone trying to gauge their own limitations, what parts of CCT training would you say are “harder” than TACP other than Dive? With TACP having SWCC and their own “A&S” somewhat mirroring Indoc, how close are they in respect to over all difficulty and washout?

Hello. I am 32 years old, graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2011 and have been working for a defense contractor on the east coast for the past few years. However, my job is starting to feel a bit humdrum, and I am looking for new challenges/adventure, so giving a shot at AF special warfare is something I have seriously been looking into. The usual reaction I get from people is that I am to old for such pursuits, so my question is: is that true? If not, how common is it for people my age to join? Apologies if you have answered this question a thousand times before. PS, I won’t be offended if your response is something along the lines of “get real old man” lol.

Good Evening gents, quick question. I’ve been in the DEP a little over a month now and have been to three IFT’s since then. I’m exceeding the baseline and have a slot to ship out to BT 30 August. However, One thing that I’m a bit concerned about is the mandatory jab.. Has a lot to do with my family’s beliefs. I know that waivers are possible, but I’ve heard only a handful have been approved thus far. I don’t want this to stop my dream of being a PJ and I’m honestly willing to sacrifice that belief, however if you have any insight or advice I’d highly appreciate it. Thanks.

We’ve answered this multiple times. We all have our own choices to make. ‘The nasty part about ethical dilemmas is you’re forced to choose between the lesser of two evils… in the end, you still have to pick an evil.’ You need to do what’s right for you and your morals. -A

Great podcast as always! I’m ready to go and do this. Nobody is going to talk me out of enlisting, and the only people that will stop me are at MEPS (though I feel good about this 🤞). It’s been my calling forever and nobody is gonna stop me. *I’m graduating with 4 yr degree in December and hope to ship out after the new year. *Currently getting my BMI % down 😭 working hard every day to get there and turn this 35 y/o body into iron before boot camp. Can’t get hurt now and then. I checked out your reading list on the website, currently reading Call Sogn Chaos by Mattis, awesome book. I love the Regret is Hell flag, been wondering if there’s a story behind that…. 🧐 would love to hear it.

@@OnesReady it's fool hearted but with the greatest intention to think PJ or Spec ops is your calling but it's the wrong mind set to have. Don't join the military wanting to be spec ops. Sure some bad ass dudes with a lot of heart make it through. But too many dudes go into this program thinking it's their destiny then get shin splints at swcc then get stuck in maintenance for 4 to 6 years. Ya'll should really promote cross training. swoe for the majority of people is a terrible life choice. Join the military first learn to be a good airmen, soldier and sailor first holy hell. Thinking it's your destiny to have the title pj or cct attached to your name is wrong. Tell this guy if he wants to save lives be an emt. You don't have to be some toe nail painted dolphin boy who bobs up and down in the deep end. Tell people not to take such a gamble with their lives right out the out gate just because they want to call themselves special operations.

Hey, my dude. I don’t think you’re getting it. That’s your opinion, and that’s fine. There are a million ways for you to grieve your inability to complete A&S. It sucks. I can say it from experience. I hope that you figure out how to be ok with this failure, and I hope you internalize the fact that there is no one to blame but yourself. Not us, not the AF, not your developer, not the system. Love the podcast gents. Listening to u boys talk about effort and ego death was great for the morning workout. It's always great to have a gut check without the pump up music... am I really pushing it? Am I ACTUALLY big? When I get to work am I making things happen? Sometimes we get lost in the "pump up music" of our ego and favorite playlists instead of doing massive work. Lifting is the minimum, 9-5 is the minimum, organized finances is the minimum. It's hard to stay focused sometimes when you're not surrounded by an elite community. The mediocrity and insecurities of others will crush u if you're not careful. 📠📠📠

Btw, I have no connection with the military, just a dude with a business who is scared of dying average because I never tried. It's just crazy to hear what a mf will do to be with the elite. It's motivating to hear other people decide they'll also die before they quit.
