It was in 2012 when I finally got a taste of owning a smartphone. I started with a lowly Alcatel unit that came free with a plan. Since then, I swore by Android, and the freedom and customization it provides.
10 years and 5 phones later, with the Pixel 2 XL serving 4 awesome years of it, it was finally time to choose a successor. I was really hoping it would be the Pixel 6, I really was. But weighing it all out, the pros and cons, I saw that I would gain more than I would lose by making, at last, the switch to Apple.
Even now, nothing beats Pixel--even my 2 XL--in taking photos. Believe me when I say that leaving that behind is such a painful loss. But my smartphone cannot be just a camera.
Yes, it's the ecosystem, with me being a Mac user for as long as I was an Android user. But it's also longevity, consistency, and reliability. Boring traits for sure, but they are traits that justify the premium. God willing, this iPhone should serve me for at least 5 years, ideally even more.
I really wished Google got it together well enough for me to stay for another 5 years. Sigh.

This is literally the exact same thing that happened to me. I had been a Samsung user for 10 years and finally bit the bullet and switched over to iPhone 13 Pro when it was released, got myself an Apple Watch Series 7 Nike Edition, as well as AirPods Pro. It's been a couple months and I've been loving the change so far, iOS is just so much fluid all around. No regrets for me.

Very satisfying video. I loved my Pixel 2 and quite liked my Pixel 5 but Google’s inability to provide a decent software experience has seen me switch back to iPhone after 11 years as an Android user. After a rough couple of days getting used to iOS I am pleased with the move. I may go back to Android some day. But their current hardware lineup and software glitches leave a lot to improve upon.

Thanks mate! Well for me, Pixel 6 was the more exciting phone, and IMO nothing beats the Pixel when it comes to photography, especially in low-light. But based from the reviews, Google hasn't hit the mark yet. Plus, Pixels aren't sold officially in the Philippines, so I could only buy one from the gray market, meaning no warranties and support. It also didn't help that Pixel is not yet allowed to connect to my country's 5G band, because Google isn't selling it here yet. On the other hand, the iPhone, IMO, is a boring phone. But what I was looking for in a phone last year wasn't excitement anymore. It's reliability, consistency and longevity, and the iPhone seems to have more of that. It's also officially sold here, and therefore has warranty and support. It also didn't hurt that it plays with my Macbook well, AirDrop is just 👌. I really didn't want to leave Pixel, my friends can attest to that haha. 4 years ago, I actually remember saying that my next phone will be the 6. But after much deliberation, I saw that an iPhone can better provide what I need in a phone right now. Sorry for the long post mate haha, but thanks so much for asking! I understand and generally agree with your concerns about the Pixel6, especially the fact that it's not being sold in SEA yet cause I'm from SG, haha. But I'm willing to wait for it so by then I think the concerns regarding the 5G and hopefully any software kinks will be fixed by then. Though the point about reliability and consistency still stands, I'm more of a PC guy still so I guess we'll see if just having a smaller ecosystem consisting of an iPhone and my iPad Pro is enough to bring me over to Apple. It’s true that android has way more freedom and more features but tbh no one uses them (at-least not daily) basically most of them are just gimmicks. I can say that because I had S21 Ultra that I used for almost 3-4 months and then I had to sell it because of bugs and bad software optimisation. So if you’re looking for a smartphone that can last you more than 4 years then you should consider getting an iPhone, also in case of tablets then there is not a single android tab in the market that is as good as iPad is and same goes for Watch and AirPods. In short, Apple has better ecosystem and better offerings also software is much cleaner and 5 years of software upgrades.
