she didnt know about it because the fifth movie isnt the story about tessa the movie called after everything is set before after 1 when hardin meets his first girlfriend before meeting tessa as a adult in college yes its the prequel about hardin's past as a teenager & after 6 was planned to be the story of hardin's children from his teenager girlfriend
