Martha VanCamp was overweight all her life. At age 40, and 250 pounds, she realized something had to change. By eliminating processed foods and starting an exercise regimen, Martha was able to shed 100 pounds. She shares how she did it with CBN News Medical Reporter Lorie Johnson.

Years ago, I heard a doctor say that he would NOT allow any product with hydrogenated oils of any kind into his home. The demo showing what hydrogenated oils do was trying to push shortening through a clear tube the size of a garden hose. It literally blocks veins/arteries! Lots of products, including Crisco, contain hydrogenated oils.

I am 40 and I weigh over 300 pounds. I so tired and scared. I’ve tried many times and I have failed. This is so encouraging to me

Try not to look at it as a diet, but a lifestyle change. Breaking poor eating habits is hard, but you can do it. The only thing stopping you is you. Never give up and start slow. Start using a fitness app (i.e MyFitnessPal). Don't lie to yourself about how much you're eating and log everything. A food scale is a great help with portion control. Limit fried foods and try steamed, boiled, or baked. Eat slowly and make water your best friend. Drink water instead of sugary drinks. Start to exercise (walking or dancing). You can slowly increase your exercise and eventually add weight lifting (weight lifting will help diminish loose skin while losing weight). Please don't loose weight too fast because you will get too much loose skin. I know how difficult it is to start and stick with it, but don't give up on yourself. You deserve so much more. Try fasting......intermittent fasting or alternate day fasting.

Kiki 64 thank you , I have tried 16:8 fasting , juice fasting, and the daniel’s fast and saw great results but would gain the weight back. I do think fasting is great and I will try it again!

I wonder if she has a problem with loose skin...I'm trying to lose weight right now and think I might end up with a lot of loose skin.

Try fasting guys.... u can lose a lot of weight without exercising, even though we need to exercise. Lots of videos on KZbin about different types of fasting. I use the intermittent and alternate day fasting.

Why put your body through that when you can just give your body healthy food which it wants and exercise then after you can implement fasting on top of this

I've been eating like her for 16 years but now in my 40's I'm having the same weight struggle all over again - EVEN ON UNPROCESSED FOOD. All the food I eat now is necessary - there's nothing I can cut out and at the same time my metabolism is slower because of age/hormones. What to do now?
