Actually, he never slept with the 2FL. He thought he did, but he actually slept with the FL. He also thought that the 2FL saved him. As much as he loves the FL, he couldn't forget the 2FL lies. The (new) FL decided to punish the ML and divorce him. She did accomplish that. He atone for his mistakes by kneeling and harass her for a month or two. He abolished his household, put all his assets under her name, and got rid of his household staff and concubine. He really atone for his errors. As for him to say that he loves her, he really does love her. As he was falling for her, he still also had to repay the saving thing and responsible for the child he thinks he cause the 2FL. When he realized that the 2FL lied, he wanted to tell the FL, but by then she wanted nothing to do with him. On his deathbed, he just didn't have the will to live anymore.

Ml was evil but when fl started giving him attitude, he started showing interest. The audacity they usually have asking FL's if she hates them that much baffles and always ironic to me. Anyway, fl was smart but stupid. Sfl was even more stupid 🤦🤦 she got everything she asked for but was still making trouble 🤦.
