After Christmas Home Reset

I understand about how hard it can be getting in all up, down, and up again. My house is covered with Christmas at Christmas. Takes me a week to get it up, and a week to get it down. Tomorrow the Big Tree comes down. I've taken 3 down already. I get tired, I'm 68, but I will Never get tired of my Grands and Great Grands in Awe when they get to Grandma's house during the Christmas holidays. I've started shopping for this coming Christmas, I have 10 little ones, around my tree at Christmas...this Grandma will Not disappoint as long as I am able. My Daughter who is 47, was so sick this past year, The week before Christmas, her health improved dramatically, my Christmas Spirit was through the roof. My heart was so full. I enjoy your video's so much. My house is Full too, but goodness I love it! I love watching you put things together, you give me so many ideas. I love watching you thrift. That's my favorite pastime. I'll be donating next week to a little local thrift shop that takes care of the local veterans, can't wait to see what I find. I've donated a lot in the past year, I'm only buying things that "Speak to me." lol I appreciate your content. The house looks beautiful, as always. Love the new pictures. Happy New Year!

I am waiting a bit longer before starting the reset for my home. Hopefully, my sister and her husband are coming this week and she wanted to see how I decorated this year. I took a page from your book and added greenery! to my nativities display. Being intentional with my decorating this year, it turned out beautifully and not overdone but still full of lights and Christmas decor. As I get older (65), I find just as much joy with less decor and less work! Well done, Becky!

Hey Becky, yep, that time of year again. I too am taking down my Xmas decorations. This is the first year I’ve taken things down before New Year’s Day. I’ve accumulated so much over the years being a maximalist like you that I’m actually feeling the need to take it all down early. It takes time and it is a lot of work but I will always be obsessed with Christmas. I was just at Walmart today and my husband noticed more Christmas in my cart but it was all 75% off- and you just gotta!😂 I found a great Santa at the Goodwill too as well as a crystal glass tree! Had to have it! I have a problem!🥴Its sorta nice getting back to normal though, get a good cleaning in a focus on a New Year. I have to focus on diet and exercise. I are way too many Xmas cookies!!! The pictures are hilarious. We pull out our old Olan Mills photos of yesteryear for a good laugh occasionally. I wasn’t aware of the trend. But it is funny. A blessed New Year to you and yours!❤

I have jadite, depression, and my absolute favorite is transferware. Your plates are gorgeous! I like the mixture of the yellow depression with the amber glass. Nice!

I love your decor and all your treasures. Sunflowers have always been my favorite, I have a beautiful sunflower field set in a Tuscan village that is way to big for my home, but I will always have it. I also have a set of A. Hawkins depression dishes in forest green, that I now call my Christmas dishes. In the past I would change out everything for each season. Like you it takes to big of a toll on me anymore😬 I did however put 3 trees up this year😀not looking forward to the take down though😂 Happy New Year my friend. Looking forward to your 2025 videos!

Becky, you remind me of me a lot. I decorate with what I like. I have a lot of the same things you have. I have always loved glass and plates. I wish we lived closer so you could see all the plates, bowls and even some depression glass I have. You would definitely enjoy it and I would probably share some with you. Most of mine is put away, but you have inspired me to branch out of the kitchen and decorate my living room with some of my glass and plates I have. I usually just bring it out to use it for an occasion and then put it away. I also need to take yours tips and use greenery. I love all your videos so I would watch anything you would like to share with us. The pictures remind me of high school in the late 70’s early 80’s. That was a fun gift you got from your girls. Your kids are amazing and crazy, in a good way! The pictures really do bring back memories of picture poses of the past. Their clothing choices and hair styles (scrunchies, perms, and sweater vests) for these pics really helped with the esthetic! Isn’t it a wonderful feeling to have everything put back? It’s also a great chance to thin out things that aren’t useful or don’t have special meaning anymore, as well as clean & dust everything. Becky, do you have a hope chest or any other areas of storage that you could go through in a video, especially if you have vintage items tucked away somewhere? Another idea I have tossed around, is to walk around my house with my girls and have them tell me if anything has special meaning to them and they would like me to pass it on to them at some point. I think it might make an interesting video, as well as give other people the idea to touch base with their kids for the same reason. I have thought about putting their initial on the bottom of the item. That way, if you ever wanted to sell or give away stuff, you will know which items you can do that with. Walmart has some beautiful area rugs that would look good with your decor. A couple of years ago i bought a rug from the "Timeless Collection" the "Le Petit Palais" design in ivory....I just love it! It comes in different colors. Mine is a 7 x 10. and it was a reasonable price. 😊

I have a lot of decor items also. I am 63 and my kids are not wanting any of it. I think wow, what a job someone will have to get rid of all my stuff after I leave this world. So I am not buying any more household items, I have stop thrifting, and starting to get rid of things.........but it is hard. I understand your love for your things. Love that you live in a smaller home like me and it is so beautiful. What are you using to wipe down all your items? You and I decorate a lot alike. We left Florida after our family Christmas (20th ..big family , big schedules) to our other home in Georgia and enjoying Christmas decor up here now. There are people coming to stay here in January ( they like the Christmas here)so I’m leaving the Christmas up here until February….so weird taking it down in February….. saying all this I’m jealous that your house is back in order. I love Christmas decor, but I’m also happy to have my house back to normal… so Florida Christmas goes down December 3rd. Know you’re getting excited about the wedding coming up!
