Even with treatment and the love and support of her loved ones, she didn't have a satisfactory life. At best she existed and sometimes that's worse than death. His actions are narcissistic. Hello, I’m American and I have always admired the Asian culture, so I would like to respectfully ask any Asian gentleman that might be reading these comments, if he can please be so kind and enlighten me and clear my doubts. I like watching kdramas and short stories but I have to wonder, does the Asian culture really demoralizes, belittles, humiliate and places so little value on a woman? Are the Asian women as weak, submissive and tolerant as depicted in these dramas? Although these are drama scripts, but why are the females portraying the villains and mistresses, always depict an aggressive behavior, while others are shown as doormat? the men in these cultures so abusive, shallow, despot and lacking moral values, to the point of placing no value on commitment, promises and human kindness? What happens to respect, honor? One role for the males that has always baffled me and boggles the mind, why can the males walk around with their mistresses for everyone to see but the legitimate woman is expected to accept this insult? Can someone please explain this to me? I have admired these cultures because of these teachings, but I would be so disappointed if all is just a smoke screen.

In my opinion, it is all too exaggerated to achieve much dramatic effect on the viewer. The scripts that make these dramas are 4 or 5 with 1000 variations and different actors. Polygamy was allowed in China in the past, and maybe this has been reflected in modern society, but I don't believe that women are so oppressed, I even read somewhere that there is a matriarchy in China and it's actually the men who are repressed.

It’s very difficult to find that chemistry between the two main characters. I think that is one of the reasons why the male or female lead will cheat because they didn’t have a solid relationship the first time. Often i think the writer is trying to convey that one of the leads is taking the other party for granted because how much that person loves them so they take the caring for a another person not knowing or seeing that it’s over the limits and hurting for the party. I think the truth comes down to is there’s just no chemistry, they grew out of love, and failed to see it. And when one of the parties, male or female lead realizes after the other party leaves, it’s not necessary for love, but more of something that they already used to in life, used to be pampered and cared for by the other person. There is redo in life, once it’s missed it’s missed forever.

Urgh.....ML was disgusting before she divorced him but after he became worse. I can't stand people who believe no matter how they treat people they can be forgiven. Glad that FL didn't go back to him, I think she wavered a few times but that's normal if you've loved someone for so many years, but she made the right choice. SML had obviously loved her for years silently and he looked up to her rather than her ex who, I believe from his treatment of her, looked down at her with smug superiority. It doesn't hurt that SML is also successful and handsome but more importantly gentle and patient.
