Katya's daughter only exists in her imagination. Katya is still a child and she imagined a whole life while the real plane crash was happening. The 2 survivors at the end are Katya and her mother.

I spent so long analysing the pronounciation of "Novosibirsk", and I concluded that it wasn't that bad but don't trust me too much because I am not Slavic at all. The first "O" should've been like your second, the "I's" need to sound more Russian and the "R" must lose it's "americaness", if that makes any sense at all.
