You should be able to export your cg footage from an animation program with a transparent background, it will save you a step and your colors too.

Ahh I thought you would have to export the camera to max and render, but I see you are rendering your alien in your 3D software first and then adding it. I never thought of doing it this way.

Yep! You can do it in this way to save some time. You can also export depth maps, AO channels, etc to make the compositing look more "3D" and realistic.

@@DIGAHub Yeh that is good to know. By the way did you know if you export as EXR you don't need to key out the green background, as you have an alpha channel. Well if you do it from 3ds max anyway. Only thing is that EXRs can be rather large

Hi, Check video at 1:48. Make sure to move the object's anchor point to the bottom of the object (where the object is supposed to touch the ground) before you make the object a 3D layer and change its positions. This should fix that.

Check off the 3D layer of the character. Make sure the anchor point is on the character's foot (You can use the Pan Behind tool to adjust it). Then, check the 3D layer back on. Copy your tracking Null's position and paste to the character's position. Now it should work.

i have the exact same settings as yours. i'm using ae 2022, but i been having this problem for ever. each time i analize the video and then i leave the background layer with the 3d camera and then come back to it. it starts to re analize all over again. this is each time i go to a new layer and come back to the 3d tracker camera... is there way or how can i have it only analize the footage once. and be able to go back and see all the tracking dots again..

Hi, after you've done analyzing 3d camera tracking the first time, the tracking data will be stored under the effect of your BG layer. To see all the tracking dots again, go select the BG layer, hit "E" key (for effects), and select (or double click) the 3D Camera effect and those dots will appear again.

@@fibstudiovfx I never heard about this issue before. The only thing I can guess is maybe you have a shortcut or something triggered the "Reset" button under the "3D Camera Tracker". Every time you hit Reset, the camera will analyze everything again. If you find out the issue, please share it at here so other people may find it helpful.

What happens if there are no tracking points where you want to place the object? For example, if I wanted that alien to be on the grass somewhere but there are no tracking points there?

Hi! You can select the closest tracking points to create a Null, then place the object on the Null. Then you can move the object along Z (the blue arrow) and X (the red arrow) until it is on the grass, just like how you would move a object in 3d software or in real life.

Hello, You can right click on the layer that you used keylight, select "Pre-Compose" (Move all attributes into new composition). Then, you can create masks on the Pre-Composed layer and it should work.

Hi, On Mac OS, it is "CMD + C" for copy and "CMD + V" for paste. On Windows, use Ctrl key instead of CMD key.

Hi there, Are you using the project files I provided for tracking? If so, you may accidentally changed the scale or position of the video in the composition, causing After Effects failed to analyze the video. 0:22 Select the BG video, drop it to create a new composition again. Do not move or scale the BG video. 0:36 Go apply the Track Camera directly. Following that, you shouldn't have the issue again. If you are tracking your own video and the "Analysis Solve Failed", here are two possible reasons: (1) Video is blurry or the video has a poor contrast, so After Effects can't find enough points in the video for tracking (2) the camera movement is too intense.
