My issue with AE, even STILL in 2021, is it uses MORE ram than allowed. I will limit it to 96GB and it will fly right past that up to 127GB crashing my system. I even tried limiting it to 64GB. Nope. Adobe forums are full of similar posts. Adobe has had no response. YAY SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE! GRRRR.

Yes, 8GB of RAM is fine for After Effects. But you might need to prevent other apps from running in the background.

depends on what you do. It will eat all the 8gb for breakfast. If you apply effects even in 1080p, I suggest minimum 16gb. If you want your preview to be less annoying, 32gb.

Hello there. Did you install the RAM sticks correctly in the right spot (not next to eachother)? If this is the case, then verify how much RAM your Windows PC is recognizing. You can manually allocate more RAM for After Effects to use.

Sir, I have After Effects 2021. I have i5 10th Generation Processor with DDR4 16 GB RAM. Since i7 Processor is quite expensive, cannot afford for such an expensive one. I observed while masking it takes a long time to get the masking fully processed. My question is if I increase my RAM to 32 GB, will it make the system faster. Kindly advise

I'm assuming that rotoscope is what you're talking about. Increasing the ram will only improve your preview or render. To actually get some performance leap it has to be the cpu upgrade. I'm saying this because I have experience upgrading both ram and SSD but made no changes in the speed for me. If you are planning to upgrade anything it should be the CPU.

Make sure that After Effects is up to date. If you are using the Creative Cloud version, then you can update it in the Creative Cloud application.
