I've watched many tutorials about AE to Nuke, including the Foundry one, but this one is really outstanding. Thank you very much Alex for this tutorial, truly you're a great teacher, you are the Nuke's Andrew Kramer. Now probably I'll do my next project in Nuke ;)

Same! It can be frustrating when you know a base knowledge of stuff and you just need to transfer that knowledge into another package, so hopefully this makes it easier for those people.

its really interesting i remember downloading this years ago and deleting it. now I downloaded it some days ago I actually used it without tutorial and didn't have too much difficulty. blender really helps.

blender definitely helps a lot - once you use nodes you never want to go back to anything else

I wish there was an Andrew Kramer for Nuke. It is so easy to learn AE with him when the tutorials are project based and really filled with amazing content. He is the best compositing teacher around.

I'd love to get into Nuke but the commercial version only supports up to 1920x1080, and most of my client projects are shot at 4k, sometime 6k now.

The free version is pretty good for learning, if you're doing direct freelancing Nuke Indie might be a good option for you as it doesn't have those resolution limitations

@CompositingAcademy24 күн бұрын
Hey there, Here is a direct link if there's any problems: www.compositingacademy.com/ae_to_nuke_free_course When you hit download you'll have a Packaged folder inside of the .zip file. Inside of that, if you open "Script.nk" you'll be able to follow along. Cheers! Alex

great video as usual, but do you know how i can get Free CG models in .exr format? to practice multipass compositing? as i'm newbie in 3D and can't really render out models my self, so any ideas?
@CompositingAcademy Жыл бұрын
Hey there, In terms of free ones I'm not sure. You could render one out of blender pretty quickly which might only take a few hours of tutorials to get you there. We have a pretty good project to learn multi-pass exr compositing in our beginner series if that interests you: www.compositingacademy.com/nuke-compositing-career-starter-bundle It includes a script / CG renders / and complete walkthrough as well to get comfortable, as well as learning how to organize your workflow as you deal with those kind of renders. All the best!

Hi, I am a motion graphics and VFX artist specializing in broadcast television and advertisement projects. I have been using After Effects for 15 years and am proficient with AE. I am considering learning Nuke to explore its workflows. My concern is whether transitioning to Nuke will lead me to abandon After Effects entirely?
@CompositingAcademy10 ай бұрын
I would say both have their strengths. AE is really good for things that involve a lot of 2D motion graphics and things that require a lot of timing. That's the strength of a layer based approach and sliding things around on a timeline. Nuke is really great at detailed VFX work, or compositing CG. For example, it's better at dealing with any type of 3D render (cinema4d, blender, houdini, etc) because of the way you can break out node trees and create templates. It's also better at anything involving VFX composited into real footage, because of it's 3d camera system and projection system. Where AE is better is really 2D motion graphics and illustrative motion design, but it's not built as a compositing package. I typically use after effects still for that type of editing work, but not for VFX. Of course you can do simple compositing tasks in AE, but it's not the best tool for it and it will be slower - and it doesn't scale well into more complex VFX. Cheers!
