Great tutorial, mesmerising artwork. Building on Mike Gorczyca's point about the masks. Another option is to break the bezier handles (7.05 in your video). It used to be Alt/Option, now it seems to be a combination of Alt/Option + Shift. Using this method you can snap the handles 90º to create a semi-circle.

Nice! A tip: you could just use the built in Guides when masking, aligning, or re-shaping. They have positional data and points/masks will snap to them. Way easier than making a new Shape Layer and then deleting (triangle example). Or making a Bezier Path and clicking and dragging a point to make a semi-circle (rotating circles example). Great work though!

You have to doubleclick the icon and a shape will be placed in the middle of the composition with the exact size as the comp itself. Works with a circle, square etc.
