simple U need to first click the layer then go to rectangular shape - then only it consider as mask other wise it will create a separate shape. (sorry bad english )

it always depend on what type of software you are using. I always use PC and Macbook Air M1. if you want to edit videos then look for 4GB graphics card + i5 10th gen above CPU and more than 16GB RAM and NVMe SSD. Dont care for the brands just stick with higher configurations.

it's not about brand simply go for the bigger size (with your budget) after effect need more scree size as it have many options. LENOVO, DELL, HP, SAMSUNG - but dont go for cheaper brand, you may get problem in RGB - true colour
