Something that you should know about FLOOR JANSEN. She started singing in a symphonic metal band at just 16 years old. After Forever (1995-2009). Then she created a new Progressive Metal band, ReVamp (2009-2016). In 2018 she released a personal Hard Rock project (Northward). In 2012, she was invited by Nightwish to finish their world tour, after the band's second female singer (Annete Olzon) left. In 2013 she became Nightwish's full time lead Vocalist. She is a singing teacher. She sings in Dutch, German, English, Spanish, Finnish, Swedish, Italian and Latin. She sings Heavy Metal, Trash Metal, Pop, Rock, Symphonic Metal, Arya and Opera. She even sang rap. In March 2023 she launched her first Pop solo album "Paragon". THE BEST SINGER TODAY IN THE WHOLE WORLD.

Absolutely the GOAT of singing today. I bet she would kill singing in Swedish as well today as she lives here in Sweden since 2014.

In my opinion, their last album is the best one. It it the only one without Mark Jansen on guitars and vocals. While I don't mind a scream here and there and I don't think it's a proper way of singing a whole song in that manner, but I would give to Mark Jansen that he makes himself clear when he does it, it's not just a constant aggressive rumble.

@@Platica.Vasile 1) The obligatory Mark Jansen comment on an AF video that’s always wrong.🤣 2) Fun fact: ALL the vocal parts in AF were written by Floor. Yes, the gutturals too. Sander Gommans who was actually doing most of them (on the first 2 albums too) didn’t even like growling. She made him do it.😁

Either way, growls might be useful for underlying a statement, an ideea or a feeling, but when all of the lyrics are sung or shouted in that manner, that effect disappears. That's why I like Epica when there are no growls or if they are, they are minimal.

This “beauty and the beast” concept was very popular in late 90-s, but very few bands managed to execute it properly. Mark really went overboard with the harsh vocals when he started Epica…

@@ymmv99 I like Nightwish and having Floor in the band should make them better, but I’m not a fan of the songwriting since she joined. Tuomas should let Floor contribute to the songwriting like she did with After Forever and ReVamp.

I don't think his ego would let her co-write with him!! She completely altered the ending to GLS, which made it super popular, but she had to ask him if it was ok to do it, but I don't think I have ever heard him credit her for that. I'm sure there are many other songs she added to, but she is too in awe of him to say. Anywa, she seems happy being in Nightwish, and that is the main thing. Cheers Ronnie

All great musicians. Sander Gommans is nowadays a teacher😊

nearly a min into this it sounds good already daaammmn you know and sounds pretty damn heavy and quite melodic as well those soaring vocals of hers and the harmonizing between floor and the other fella holy crap those two sound nice just by themselves but honestly like another floor and marcko the tapestries being interwoven with what sounds like a piano with when that drummer sounds when he hits some of those drum heads it sounds crystal as when Kai Hahto surgical precision sounds like a pneumatic hammer like a sound you would hear the road workers when they use the pneumatic jackhammer sound the straight forward right out the gate and then it just builds and keeps building and the ways that mix is composed holy fire of a Finnish heavy metal masterpiece with some just awesome progressive metal and did i mention the such powerful highs and thats just from the insanely soaring effortless transitions and i hear and feel and just to be able to experience those kind of not just Finnish heavy metal but with what sounds like elements of the symphonic compositions.
