This album holds a special place in my heart (as it does with many others) released just before we went into lockdown for the first time, with Abel creating an immersive experience through the world of After Hours acting as pure escapism from reality at the time. It's arguably his best body of work.

I loved your unique reaction and take to this record! Notice how before the second half of Escape From LA starts (32:00) you can hear a phone ringing before he starts singing about his girl in the studio, and also just before the outro of Faith (41:15) you can hear an siren before he starts singing about ending up "in the back of a flashing car"! The production on this album is phenomenal and it's amazing to see you do it justice.

If you are looking for a desolate horror movie in an album form then 'Kissaland' (my personal favourite from him) will definitely be a great reaction video let alone experience. The songs are generally longer and much more layered as well, lyrically it has his best work bar 'After hours' I'd say.... After Hours was to me the top album of 2020 and it wasn't even close. Yet, this album got zero Grammy nominations, which was a snub not just to The Weeknd, but every producer and engineer who absolutely killed it on this album. The production is pristine and The Weeknd always delivers with some of the best vocals in the industry. I love that you caught some of his more sci-fi references like Philip K. Dick and how you brought up Vangelis a lot. I believe The Weeknd is quite the sci-fi geek himself as he has a big attachment to synthesizers and the 80s sound. Faith is my favorite track off the album, and it's the perfect ender for your first reaction video here. The atmospheric ending with him singing over police sirens is the closest he's been to that really dark melancholic RnB Weeknd from his Trilogy era ever since he took on the new futuristic pop-driven Starboy persona. Faith is the perfect track in combining both his new and his old into one.

@Gino5653 жыл бұрын
Really? I’d say it would be Starboy. That was his huge pop album. The biggest song from the album, the title track ‘starboy’ is comparable to thriller (song) for obvious reasons, ‘I feel it coming’ as the big r&b song (billie Jean), and maybe ‘false alarm’ as the equivalent of ‘beat it’ as the fast paced, high energy banger.
