After Hours Smooth Jazz - Tribute to Ronny Jordan (1962 - 2014 )

Robert Lawrence Albert Simpson, known as Ronny Jordan (29 November 1962 - 13 January 2014) was a British guitarist and part of the acid jazz movement at the end of the twentieth century. Jordan described his music as "urban jazz," a blend of jazz, hip-hop, and R&B. He came to prominence after being featured on Guru's Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1, released in 1993. He was also one of the artists whose recordings are featured on Stolen Moments: Red Hot + Cool-a compilation album released in 1994 to benefit the Red Hot Organization.
Following 1992's The Antidote, recordings from Jordan have featured on the Billboard charts. He was also the recipient of The MOBO Best Jazz Act Award and the Gibson Guitar Best Jazz Guitarist Award. His 2000 release, A Brighter Day, was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album.
Jordan's song "The Jackal" (from his 1993 album The Quiet Revolution) gained prominence when actress Allison Janney in the role of C. J. Cregg lip-synched it in the episode "Six Meetings Before Lunch" of The West Wing. She also did so on Arsenio Hall's show in September, 2013.
Jordan died on January 13, 2014.

I never knew that this giant of jazz has fallen. It's even more shocking for me to learn that he passed away so long a time ago. May his soul rest in peace. His part, he has fulfilled.

He passed on January 13th, 2014. Exactly one week after I got home from my vacation from England. While I was in London, there was a one time or miss it report that Ronnie was very sick. At the time, I thought he would pull through. I got the news about two days after his death.

Thanks for this! Very precious music to me since first hearing "Take 5" in an "Irish Pub" in Nice and thought I would never be able to find again....and then it was on French MTV a couple day later and thus began the earnest following ever since! Totally unique voice in approach.....miss him.

I didn't know that he already died 'til just now, and he was born later than I (I was born in 1961). Thank You! "After Hours" is a little famous in Japan. "After Hours" is used as the theme of NHK radio program. In 1980's, at midnight 00:00, "After Hours" flowed from the FM radio.
