Words and phrases like lazy, spoiled, entitled man child alone or with words like moocher, grifter and neet would describe the now ex husband better. Since the phrase careless personality promotes the image of inaction. And the husband was only inactive when it came to following through on his verbal promises. Not sure where this story was supposed to take place but just a FYI when you spouse dies your in laws do not become ex in laws they are only ex in laws when you divorce. You may choose to have little to do with them but they are still in laws just like your spouse is your deceased spouse not your ex spouse. Also you are in your thirties not you thirty-threes or you are thirty three. Being 33 happens once so it is not a plural number. Thirties include all years from 30 - 39 not giving a certain year.

Typical plot device where fools spend money before they've got it. They just assume the money is coming, sometimes understandably, other times being delusional, but then instead of waiting for it, they go on a spending spree and in a few stories even went out and got a loan from shady people instead of being a little patient and waiting until actually having the money in their hands.
