Huh? The term “K-Pop” was already used back then! As I remember, around 2008 to 2009 people are already using the word “K-Pop”, not “that one Korean song”. why are y’all so salty? they said widely known, as in mainstream. during this time, kpop wasn’t mainstream and globally known, and only small niche groups listened to kpop but now, it’s the opposite. kpop is so widely known that some kpop artists are bigger than western artists now. don’t get offended by the truth that’s backed up by statistics. people knew what Korean music were bc of some big groups like sand/WG but most of them didn’t use the term “k-pop”
