You could cut triangle gussets out of thin plywood and glue them in lengthwise on top of each rib and touching the firewall. That would be easy and add a bunch of strength.

Thanks for the comment. You know... I thought about that but the plane had been flying now for 8 ish years with the original design just fine. It took a slam from a few feet up for the firewall to pop loose along the top joint. SOOOO my thought process was do we need to reinforce this firewall to deal with an impact like that or is the original design fine. Obviously we went with the original design. Thanks for watching!

Definitely a reasonable choice. I just have a hard time leaving well enough alone when I'm doing repairs:)

@@DoRC HAHA! I'm typically the exact same! If something fails I like to overbuild the repair. Or on a new build find the weak points and over do it.

Camber is the angle of the tire in contact with the ground. Zero camber would be the top and bottom of the sidewall at 90deg to the ground. Top of the tire leaning in is negative camber and leaning out is positive. Caster is used in the steering axis from the vertical axis of the steered wheel. Best visual example is the rake of the front forks on a motorcycle.

Thank you! I appreciate the description! it's one of those things I learned about in Automotive class 20+ years ago in highschool and I don't use it often enough to remember it.

What you have on the wheels is negative camber. Just my opinion but a little Positive camber is more desirable and also some toe in. Great job on the repair. Just subscribed.

I would have pulled the upper sheeting covering the tank area so that the are could have been re-enforce properly.
