You shouldnt feed strays as it encourages them to beg humans for feed, reduces fear of humans to make them more aggressive, and encourages them to breed. Second, why did you steal the puppy? Just leave it. Its not yours. Mother is doing her job, you shouldnt interfere to make you feel better about yourself

You seem someone focused on minute issues without seeing the big picture. This person rescued so many dogs, either by tracking them down to adopt them, or feeding countless strays. He deserves praise, not criticism. I guess you must have done a lot to take the high road.

All I want to add is that there is no excuse to treat this family so harshly. Saving many lives is admirable. I just didn’t like the fact that this person was quick to kick or swat at this dog. I no way intended to admonish the rescuers’ efforts.
