1) A cardboard box, burlap and twine are capable of amazing transformations. See what you can make from them.
A simple cardboard box is capable of amazing transformations. Today I will make a basket tray. For decoration I will use burlap and ordinary garden twine.
The main decor is a 4-strand braid.
First I shortened the box. I prepared a piece of burlap and glued it with a hot gun to the sides of the product. The bottom inside and outside will be made of cardboard.
Now the braid. I found on the Internet how to weave it from 4 strands. It turns out there are several ways to do this. I won’t describe it, you can follow the sequence from the photographs.
The main thing here is to place the first strands correctly - 2 threads on 1 and 4 on 3. Then it happens naturally.
I used 8 pieces of twine for one strand, this amount depends on the thickness of the twine.
My handles are made of wooden beads, I strung them on a rope and glued them to the box. You can use a strap.
Then I glued the braid, to do this I squeezed it a little and at the same time straightened the threads. It is better to straighten the threads and distribute them evenly when braiding. At the same time I closed the places where the handles were attached.
I decorated the joint on the braid with a sticker, if there is none, then you can take a piece of leather or the same strap, and glue round nail heads to the edges.
At the end I used a stencil. I recently wrote out various drawings on the Internet and was still waiting for the opportunity to use them.
In this box you can store cosmetics, combs, stationery, chargers and much more. The storage will definitely be beautiful.
2) I bought coarse burlap at the market and made an elegant item that will help keep the house tidy.
Today I made some cute little hanging baskets that can be used in any room to store small items. They are convenient because they do not take up space on the table or shelf. Using hooks with Velcro, you can hang them anywhere - behind the door, on the side of a cabinet or table.
My baskets are small. For one basket, I cut out a piece of burlap measuring 44x24 cm. I cut out a nice lining fabric from calico of this size.
How to sew:
I made a side seam and ironed the seam.
I stitched the bottom.
I sewed lines on the sides, 7 cm long for the corners. The excess fabric was cut off.
I sewed a loop on one side.
I did the same from the lining fabric.
I inserted these two parts one into the other with the right sides facing inward. I stitched along the top. Leaving room for turning.
I sewed a decorative stitch.
These baskets can be used to store hygiene items in the bathroom, stationery or small toys in the children's room. In the kitchen they have a place for any items.
These baskets will definitely decorate your home and help you stay organized.
3) I found a new bag in my grandmother’s village and took it for myself. How she made real beauty out of burlap.
For my idea you will need:
Cutting board.
Skewers.
Twine of different thicknesses.
A piece of burlap.
Cardboard.
Stencil and acrylic paint.
Job description:
Cut the burlap to a size larger than the cutting board. Stretch it well on one side and glue it on the other with hot glue.
Cut out the sole for the pocket from cardboard and also cover it with burlap.
On this workpiece, make holes along the round edge with an awl and insert skewers there, having previously greased them with glue. Remove excess pieces of sticks at the bottom. On the reverse side I glued a string of twine to this part (crocheted from air loops).
I attached the board and the bottom of the pocket together with hot glue. You can strengthen them with a stapler.
Now I took a jute rope and glued it to the back of the board. Then she braided the skewers through one like a basket. Everything is done in circles.
As a result, the pocket grows in height.
I cut off the extra length of the skewers and glued the rope along the contour.
I decorated the reverse side with a chain of twine. I made a ring at the top for a hook.
When I was weaving, I pulled the skewers a little, but that didn’t make the look any worse.
The final touch is drawing through a stencil. I used brown acrylic paint for it.
This decor is suitable for a corridor, kitchen or other room.
