I'm watching the Eurovision finals right now and I'm wondering if this is the same guy who represented Portugal? I heard 'Salvador Sobral' and remembered this video from ages ago, it's one of my all time favourite videos/covers in KZbin. If this is the same guy, I'm super proud and amazed at how far he's come!

Yup, I've been listening to his album "Excuse me" times and times again, and it's safe to say that I am indeed addicted! I've always been into jazz, so I'm not new to the genre, but Salvador's music is so unique and special. Never in my life have I been so interested in a musician that I want to know him personally, but there is a first for everything!

I love that one of the most admired musicians of Portugal right now is one influenced by Chet Baker and other amazing jazz musicians. Portugal is finally regaining the cultural space it much needs in international music - a space we don't seem to have since the days of Amália Rodrigues and Carlos Paredes, when our poetry and our magic was well represented in beautiful lyrics and sincere performances.

Because RTP hasn't been decided yet where it's going to take place and Lisbon is out of the "race" to organize Eurovision 2018 if MEO Arena is to be taken for more than 20 days. The venue has already lots of events booked for next year and the cost of leasing it for more than that period of time would be too high for the organization. There are 5 other candidates with equal conditions and cheaper: 2 in the north, one in the center and one in the Algarve.
