I have watched Makiko over the last 4 years or so and have never seen her give a poor performance. Her playing and feeling for the music she plays is superb. Best I've seen. Great stuff.

Those who think that the Japanese are only good at Maths, Science, Engineering and Classical Music should listen to this excellent performance and think again. Extremely talented group of musicians - however the two ladies are Jazz Geniuses. I plead with these maestros to continue spreading joy through their music.

She is absolutely amazing. For me she's in Artie Shaw territory and I always thought he was the greatest clarinetist that ever lived. She's changing my mind.

Playing Jazz clarinet doesn’t get any better than this! In my humble opinion, Tamura Makiko is right up there with the best in this genre. I have listened to many of her videos on KZbin but this one takes the cake. In addition, a wonderful swinging rhythm section. Fortunately, there is no trumpet playing over Tamura’s great improvisation, which is, sadly, the case in many other of her otherwise great recordings. Many thanks to Tamura and the entire band for this fantastic performance and to whoever posted this on KZbin! Keep up the good work. All the best from Germany.

Heinz: I agree completely with you on the first sentence. I also agree completely with you regarding the trumpet. The reason why there is no trumpet playing over is that this is her own band, P-time Selection, which is an excellent band. Check out their concert 2018-05-19, which is absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately the concerts by P-time Selection have not been published on KZbin the last year, I dont know why. Also check out the concert 2020-03-14 by N. O. Jazz Hounds, which is really good. They have a new trumpet player and the teamwork is much better. I hope it will continue so. Makiko is a world-class talent and must play in an appropriate environment. (B.t.w., Makiko=first name.)

Tamura Makiko is wonderfully good. She could play in any NO band of the last 100 years and stand out. Phew!

In fact Tamura turned up in NO last year, and played alongside her friend Haruka Kikuchi and the Shotgun Jazz band. Search KZbin, it's here somewhere.

Imaizumi is to jazz piano what Tamura is to the clarinet - both are wonderful. This is about the best recording I've seen of them. Tears of joy territory! Best wishes from Scotland and may we all be able to forget Covid soon and get musicians back to gainful and happiness-spreading work like this!
