I wanna say, Orbot and Cubot did more for the fight than infinite, they got the bowser army in one spot, got the phantom ruby from the charging chuck, and passed it to metal as they fight the elite trio for the rest of the battle. They aren’t made for fighting and they held their ground against the trio, which can hold their ground against not just Mario, but a whole army of Dream luiginoids. Bottom line, Orbot and Cubot definitely did more for the battle than infinite

Keeping elite Trio busy is actually both more impressive and important than people give them credit for, Aside from their surprising power, sergant guy could have acted as a low budget replacement for kamek with his wacky magic and their Banzai Bill might have caused trouble of eggmans army too. Orbot and Cubot performed LEAGUES better than infinite and even did their best to cover up for his goof up by getting the Phantom Ruby. Plus, without them "Operation Catfish" wouldn't even have been possible to begin with.

That's probably the best thing about the whole fight: Orbot and Cubot? Got the Ruby to Metal. Sage? Did a fair bit of work, herself. Metal? MVP OF THE *ENTIRE* ROBOTNIK EMPIRE. Infinite? Took out some trash, and then died like a joke (Perfectly in-line with Forces, honestly). The only person on Eggman's side to do less was Eggman himself, who failed to land a single hit, and do anything himself.

It's not that Infinite did nothing, it's that he did so much less than what he's counted on for that makes him a joke. Break it down like this, each "General" for Eggman has a parallel on Bowser's side: D3-C0Y (Decoy in the Dragoon) = The midbosses (King Bomb-omb, Goomboss, etc.) Sage = Bowser Jr. Orbot & Cubot = Elite Trio Infinite = King Boo Metal = Kamek That's what it looks like on paper, but in practice this is what it actually looks like: D3-C0Y > Bowser's midbosses (Decoy performed function, midbosses stood around and died) Sage ~= Bowser Jr. Orbot & Cubot > Elite Trio (Orb and Cube did more than just fight) Infinite < King Boo Metal > Kamek...and Bowser Jr. AND King Boo. No one is denying that Infinite is more useful in a fight than say, Orbot. The problem is he's the only one that is outright FAILING to do his job. Even Sage who is closest to failing after him gets a pass, because she also had to be "Eggman but better" in regards to utilizing his machines. Which she technically did correctly even if it ultimately wasn't enough. Not to mention several characters can use the Phantom Ruby. Infinite was just holding the ball, and he literally dropped it. A quick aside, everyone in Bowser's army gets a pass on their performance because unlike Eggman's robots, they didn't *need* to show up. Squaring up to a gravity manipulator they have no chance against for their leader? That's the kind of people Bowser jumps in front of a Death Star laser for.
