Jos, thank you for the heads up. As an American who is planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip to London next year, I will probably visit the food hall at Harrods for a cup of tea and a scone, rather than the afternoon tea. I hear good things about the tea at Sketch, as well as Fortnum & Mason--especially for Christmas!

Hi I hope you're having a lovely weekend! I have been to F&M many times and have videos of the F&M Royal Exchange and the F&M main restaurant at Piccadilly in my afternoon tea playlist. If you do go to the Royal Exchange afternoon tea you can also get a 10% discount if you show your afternoon tea receipt when you go into the F&M store in The Royal Exchange. You might also like some of my future afternoon teas that are coming up on my channel with a little more of a festive vibe. Thanks for the support! 🤗

I certainly agree with you that a constant stream of people walking past spoils the ambience. I found the food pretty good there but would like more traditional tea sandwiches, My favourite afternoon teas in London are the Savoy and Dorchester.
@josatkin Жыл бұрын
I don't know why I was surprised to be honest as it is prominently a department store after all 😂 If you like the Savoy and the Dorchester Collection that you might like some of my upcoming afternoon teas on my channel.

Thank you for the lovely video. Would love to see a better font as for us old Canadians we have trouble reading it. Keep up the great work!!!

Hi, thanks for the comment. I recently changed my font style as a few subscribers did mention it could be hard to read at times. My newer videos on the channel have the latest text style which seems to work a lot better. I'm glad you're enjoying my afternoon tea videos. I hope you're having a lovely weekend over in Canada. I love Canada but not been back since 2018 🤗

@Jos Atkin hi Jos! Harrods Tea Room looks like a grand Hotel. Very bright and open, very impressive not to mention the piano! 😊
@josatkin Жыл бұрын
It was useful to have the seating spaced further apart, as I do find in some afternoon teas, people are positioned very close to each other. It's always lovely to have music like a pianist but I I was sat very close to him so it was a little loud but hopefully the mic helped a little bit. The Savoy also has lovely music. Each time I've been, they have a pianist play in the centre of the room. Thanks for watching and your support! 🤗

I absolutely love afternoon tea and have tried a few here in an around Toronto. This looked delicious, especially the scone with gobs of clotted cream (a personal favourite). Great critique.

I do love ALOT of clotted cream 😋😍

Wow people walking through other departments! Definitely, spoil the vibe.

Yes I guess that is the drawback of it being in a department store compared to other places I have tried afternoon tea as they're in hotels. 🤔

Thanks for the video. Hi from the south coast of England. I've eaten in Harrods once only and loved it. Visited quite a few times though. Sounded quite noisy but lively. The piano was lovely but a touch loud. Background decor was plain but soothing. All seemed well. Food wise I thought it was interesting and I will try it out sometime soon. Retro was a good word to describe it! Beautiful idea in my opinion. I still have The Ritz London as my favourite afternoon tea venue. Please find a better one for me, good luck with that! Harrods looks great so cross fingers.

Thanks for watching the latest video. It was pretty busy so I can't imagine how it would be on a weekend as I try to avoid going on weekends as it's far too hectic for me. The staff at Harrods were lovely and really helpful too. I have quite a few other afternoon teas to upload and also attend over the coming weeks so I can't wait to try some other beautiful experiences. Thanks for the ongoing support! I hope you have a lovely weekend! 🤗

Not a fan of soured cream, apricots, raisins or cucumber 😁🤔just wondering why you went to Harrods for afternoon tea? Did you look what was on offer before you booked? I’m going in December, tbh not sure I’m looking forward to it now😬

Hi, sometimes the venues only have sample menus on the websites but I do try and see what food they have in afternoon teas. I would say that cucumber sandwiches and also raisin scones are nearly always in traditional afternoon teas but that's totally fine as I'm happy to try but they just wouldn't be my top faves. I also find egg sandwiches are quite popular in afternoon teas and I do find them delicious. Throughout the year they also often change the menu and have themed/festive afternoon teas too. Thanks for watching and hope the afternoon tea playlist gives you some ideas of different places. I will be uploading other afternoon teas in the coming weeks that you might enjoy. Have a great week! 🤗

@@josatkin Thanks for replying, I’m going to watch your other videos to get ideas of other places to book😊 I did think that it seemed very busy. Another vlogger said that where the restaurant is positioned in the shop, means that people have to sort of walk through the area to get to the rest of the shop? Seems a bit annoying, what did you think? X

What a waste of money. You could have made that yourself I say, with a lot more topping and flavour. Its amazing how people pay for a name rather than what goes in the gut to satisfy. Thanks for the video, and showing me what not to do. Enjoy the weekend.

I do think the portion sizes for the caviar and black truffle were actually pretty good. For people who don't really want an afternoon tea, I would recommend heading to the food hall as you can purchase the scones there at a fraction of the price. I found the Harrods scones actually tastier than the Ritz scones when I went there recently. I found the chocolate delice and the lime dessert really delicious too. I will be uploading some other afternoon tea videos that are half the price to give another perspective for viewers interested in alternative price options. I hope you're having a really lovely weekend and thanks for watching!

Could make better myself. How much is half a sandwich? Don't think she likes cucumber. Rather go the chippy with a mug of tea Ta!

I do find each of the afternoon tea trips I go on can be hugely varied but the day I went to the Harrods afternoon tea it didn't quite hit the mark in my opinion compared to others. Thanks for watching! 🤗

I went there with my family a month ago. It was the worst afternoon tea I’ve ever had! Sandwiches were stale, service was slow and no atmosphere. Total rip off

Thank you for being honest...I was thinking about going but I will go somewhere else

@@linapesz313 it was such a shame because I was so looking forward to it. For the price I expected it to be amazing but it wasn’t. Definitely would recommend somewhere else!

Thanks, I do like to be true to the experiences I have. I appreciate something I may like may also not be what another person experiences on the day. I do shop at Harrods pretty often but in that afternoon tea moment I have found other venues in my afternoon tea playlist that tick more boxes for me! I'm glad you enjoyed the vlog 🤗

Yes I think for the price it's important to think about what you want from an afternoon tea. In my opinion the atmosphere/environment is equally as important to me as the food. I also find the experiences can be very different when I go with friends compared to going on my own. I have a variety of new afternoon teas that will be uploaded in the coming weeks, so let me know if you have any fave locations you've been too as I always enjoy recommendations from my viewers. 🤗
