Habiba, I LOOOOOOOVE this video!!! I’ve been waiting for it. I’m a huge tea drinker, and I have tea parties for one. The kids made me laugh so hard. I’m stealing your sandwiches ideas - never thought of adding grapes to chicken salad (green apples, yes), but I’m trying that. I think I’m going to have baby croissants for the chicken salad. Khalid, everybody loves smoked salmon!! The only thing missing was Kenton clowning at the table 😂 I have to favorite this vid 🤣🤣🤣. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY 🎁

Tips from a British person who regularly enjoys afternoon tea with friends. Your teaspoons are much too big. Lady Grey tea is my favourite; usually served with a lemon wedge but milk should be offered too. We would never usually have a fruit tea with afternoon tea (I might just try it). Knife blades should face inwards and are usually placed on the tea plate (tea plate, folded napkin then small knife on top). It's not English or British cream; it's proper name is Cornish Clotted Cream. Traditionally, strawberry jam is served with scones. A good quality jam (preserve) will still have whole strawberries in it. Spread your napkin over your lap and use it when needed to dab your lips (scones, jam and cream is messy to eat). When making scones you should never twist the cutter as it inhibits the scones from rising equally in the oven. Only the tops of the scones should be brushed with beaten egg, never the sides because it stops them from rising freely. The single most important thing about afternoon tea with family or friends is that it's a treat and should be enjoyed as an indulgence. Please don't get so hung up on doing things properly that your friends feel nervous about making a mistake. It's meant to be a relaxing social occasion. Here in the U.K., no one will be watching to ensure you do it properly, so just relax and enjoy. Loved your video, you got the overall feeling of luxury just right. X

Guys she’s just offering some tips to improve for next time. She also did it in a calm and respectful manner. Stop getting so fluffin butthurt
@aileenmoore75036 жыл бұрын
Sorry you feel I was rude, it certainly never was my intention. Afternoon tea is a very British thing and I loved seeing a beautiful family from a different part of the world enjoying it as much as my friends and I do. The tips were meant to be helpful and I truly hope that this lovely family took them in the manner they were intended. In my society people with class do not ever name call, when someone sinks that low they demean themselves. My only concern is that I have not hurt the feelings of such a nice and classy family.

Eileen Moore I didn’t mean you, I meant the others replying to your comment! You offered excellent advice!

FairytaleLover, my comment was not intended for you but for the other two comments, one of which thought I was being rude, the other was just plain childish name calling. I just don't understand why some people have the need to be so insulting and nasty to complete strangers. Your comments were lovely and I appreciate them.

I know it's hard to not sit and laugh like the children are doing. However, that being said, they will one day thank their mom to high heavens for this lesson. It will be vital one day maybe on a job interview or when meeting someone at a club for brunch or simply on a date. Way to go mom! Bravo!!

LOL, ok, seriously, I applaud you for showing your kids proper etiquette for such a fancy afternoon tea...we have nothing like this here in the US, I appreciated it, and also laughed that your kids were not trying to be anything but who they are, but appreciate that they participated. would actually love to see more etiquette. Even though we don't use it daily, it sure is nice to know how too, if the occasion should present itself. thank you.

What a wonderful video, Habiba. I grew up in England and my mother offered an abbreviated version of this tea every day we children came home from school. Often a friend would come to tea" with us. It was my favourite meal of the day and a wonderful way to transition into the comforts of home after a long school day ending at four o'clock. My mother was at home and had help in the house, but I've always worked, and the tea I offered my children was even more abbreviated, but for their birthdays we did the whole thing. They've always loved teatime and make a point of trying what's offered anywhere they go, from the Ritz-Carlton to cosy little teashops. Even though in our family we disagree with some of your details (such as how you do your cutlery, your type of tea, etc.), they will love your video and adore you Limoges china. A tea done with this kind of loving attention is a gift to the participants. Your children are fortunate, as are my own in this regard. Thank you, Habiba.

Tea parties especially British one's never really caught on here witch is a shame because it teaches you things good posture for one no elbows on the tables holding a chair for a lady, consideration for your neighbors I.e. no tapping on the side of the table.Little wonder it is used so often to teach etiquette.Please let an old fuddy duddy bring this to your attention.,You never know where this might take you oh and don't talk with food in your mouth.😆

I loved your video so much! You and your family are adorable! It is so nice to see that your family is teaching us some etiquette. A long lost art in so many families. I love your children. They were such good sports! I must tell you many years ago I was having a tea party with my granddaughters, ages 4 and 6. This was not our first tea party, we had been working on our etiquette several times earlier. In the midst of my guiding my 6 year old to "sip" the tea, not slurp, my 4 year old tapped my arm and said "Nana? Nana? "Are you supposed to have your elbows on the table"? I cringe and laugh at the same time whenever I think of this most precious moment with my darling granddaughters. I learned a very valuable lesson that day!

The young man was such a good sport and a nice gentleman. We loved everything. I learned to look into the cup. Thank you 😊 our favorite parts were the prayer and the family laughter. Blessings. Ephesians 3:20-21. We came to learn how to have a family tea for daughter's high school graduation 🎓 big hugs for taking time to make this 🤗 inspiring 💗 information instructional lovely video. You daughter was a perfect example of how we dream we will act at the tea party.

We are very thankful your son didn't like Salmon or dill because we don't eat or cook w those things either so we are going to have tiny BBQ sliders, tiny pigs in a blanket and tiny chick fil a chicken biscuits because we know our daughter, Faith will like them. Big hug to your son for his honesty.
