The Hermetic Principles - Ancient Wisdom for a Better Life - The Alchemist

The seven principles are the foundation of Hermeticism, a branch of spiritual philosophy dating back over 5000 years ago. They were outlined by famed author Hermes Trismegistus, who is believed to have written the Emerald Tablet and the Corpus Hermeticum (two highly influential, ancient teachings).
His work would go on to influence both ancient Greek and Egyptian cultures, with both adopting him as a god of wisdom. (In Greece he was called Hermes; in Egypt, Thoth.) He was known in his time as a great master of the universe and is said to have lived for thousands of years.
Over time, the seven hermetic principles were passed down by word-of-mouth from teacher to student, and eventually, one day in the early 20th century, the teachings were compiled into a book called The Kybalion, written by "The Three Initiates." Today, they remain an occult source of wisdom, separate from any real religion but powerful nonetheless.
And while the seven principles are just one way of understanding the universe, they aren't so constricting that they cannot be studied alongside other spiritual philosophies.

I love this and I read the Kybalion in the 90s. I had been studying Martial Arts/eastern mysticism and the Kybalion says the same thing really in slightly different ways... all is accessible through the "master frequency" we can tap into through magnified gratitude and compassion in the heart portal..the heart is the generator, the mind is the transmitter and receiver and when we get coherent of heart and brain we become coherent with Spirit and that's when the magic begins..that's when we achieve true alchemy and we can manifest anything. That's when we understand what these 7 Hermetic principles that are 7 parts of the same whole really mean and how they can be applied in our lives. Namaste

I've been on a journey for knowledge and truth for 6 years now, came across and purchased the Kybalion about 3 months ago. Blew my mind, and put more puzzle pieces into place. It's definitely one of the most important books on my shelf and recommended that everyone have a copy. What would have struck me as strange had I not learned some previous wisdom prior, is that shortly after reading it, meditating on it and thinking to myself "why is there not others seeking these tomes of wisdom?" It suddenly is popping up everywhere, which is exciting and reminds me that everything is ticking along as it should.

Lol, when I told a friend of The Kybalion, his response was “That is a book that finds you, not the other way around.” I find this to be hilariously true, which is why at the moment I hesitate to recommend it to a friend, but on the other hand if he forgets about I guess it’s not the time.

It's incredibly useful, and I actually found that, aside from its obvious direct teachings, it happens to convey the idea that the use of language is a is a significant reason why any sort of misunderstandings or incorrecr assumptions occur, because people start thinking of the actual words, rather than the ideas they represent, and their interactions. When applied to communication you also have the added trouble of not knowing exactly what idea the speaker was attempting to represent with their particular word choice, as it is essentially a translation of ideas into words, across airwaves, back into words, and then into an idea Again. Honestly, it's a damn wonder we can understand anything at all.

@@MichelleHight The emerald tablets of Thoth have been some of my favorite for a while. However, I've listened to the kybalion twice recently and felt I was able to get a lot more out of it these last two times. It started to connect with a lot of The emerald tablets, but what I found interesting is lot of the Gnostic texts in Dead Sea scroll text seem to have some parallels. I'm going to go back through the Gnostic text next. Especially the story of Pistis Sophia. I believe it is the same story told in The emerald tablets when Thoth speaks of rescuing the Lady of light from her imprisonment in the deep abyss. It is interesting how many of these separate ancient texts have similar parallels as well as similar accounts of certain events.

As above so below reminds me of the endless levels and vastness of the microcosm of matter down through molecules, atoms, quarks, etc and the universe, galaxies, solar systems planets etc. also the vibrations of different waves of energy, sound, and photons that can be a wave or particle. I really really like this combo, the pictures in the background allow the visual learner to better "see" what is being shared, where the audible learner is still focused on what Sarah is saying. St Augustine of Hippo said this many times in many different ways nearly 1,600 hundred years ago. He was battling the heresy of Manicheism, which held that there was a cosmic struggle between Good and Evil, and that both were equally powerful and on the same level. Augustine firmly denied this way of thinking, Instead, he asserted that the Good was infinitely superior to evil, because evil was merely an absence of the the Good. Not surprisingly, Augustine was a Platonist, and Plato was definitely in the hermetic tradition.

The Kybalion was a gift I received from a dear friend probably 20 years ago! I have read it many times and every time I feel I receive even more insight. Such illuminating information. I am so happy to see more and more people bringing this knowledge to even more people. In my path these principles have been a foundation and guide to look internally and externally at the world. On this foundation I have grown to be less reactive and more understanding. There is always more work to be done, but I am far less attached to dwelling in thoughts or loops like the world is against me or these things are happening to me. There is a much larger sense of personal agency and co creation of my life. This has given me a peace and a serenity, that I choose to live in most days.

OMG goosebumps! You both did a great job. This should be taught at school. I'd like to add something for the conscious manifesters amongst us that struggle with self-doubt or self-worth. Polar opposites are necessary so that energy which is always moving can be "contained". Because of polarity it can attract the right components (and repel the wrong components) to form matter in the physical world. This is how we create through contrast, which tells us what we do resonate with and with what we don't.

I play guitar and every time I hear about the law of vibration etc, I think of my guitar. It’s the only cure for depression I’ve ever found. Which I also connect to being in the now though, like what Alan Watts says about dancing. It’s about the now, not the end, and that’s freeing. Playing guitar and singing, for me, stops anxiety attacks in their tracks for me.

Its actually very interesting, cuz dancing helps me also quite a lot with my anxiety and depression, also music and art working i do a hell of a lot handmaking to go thru all this mostly. Thank you for sharing this ;)

You make an incredible pair! I hope you keep working together! I totally understand what you shared. Our chakras and archetypes and hermetic laws represent different perspectives (spectrums) of light split from a singular source. If we can integrate them back into the one white light that they emanated from, the law becomes singular. It is the law of light. The 7 hermetic principles are tools and chakras receptors for manipulating and experiencing differ constituents of light. The way in which we can manipulate light in much the way that a painter creates a work of art and then gazes upon it is what makes us "light workers". We have become lost in our art. If we can fully remember the artisans that we are, we can master our creations and experiences of them. Beautiful! ❤
